How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

Ekmek,

I have another problem with the Tarkin LH. When in-game, it appears that the eyes are completely black. (the eyes are NOT from the original LH, but from a modded one, if that helps) I've attached a screenshot of the LH. Also, can you tell me how to make my LH shaded? (with the Norm, Spec, Envimask, etc.)

I feel like a total idiot, I saved a different image of the Hannibal_NONSHADER.dds file, and I was hoping someone could help me out by posting it here. He looks all screwy now and I don't have a file to replace it with.

the black eyes are probably because it came from a non-shader LH try clicking on the eyes in nifskope and do this fix:

As for adding shaders there is a section for adding shaders in my guide.

Thanks! I fixed the problem. I'm not finished yet, but how does this look so far?

Hey Guys,
I am in no way smart enough to use 3d modeling for my game. I have warlords on a mac and I simply want to create static leaderheads. Quick and simple. The problem is that when I sample my mod I only see a pink screen where my character should be in the civilopedia. I am using a dds file and I am fairly certain my sizes are correct. 512x512 and 64x64. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. Please help!

I may have run into this issue before but I can't quite figure it out. When I added shaders to Vercingetorix the Mustache started to have this weird transparency issue. When it was un-shadered this didn't happen, but now that it is it does. It only shows up when he makes this move here, and that is only for a second, but I'd still like it to be fixed, anyone know what the issue is?

You can correct it in Nifskope. Just adjust the edges in the UV editor.

How would that do anything?

I attached an image, see there will still be spots of transparency and the same thing will happen, it will just be a little less apparent. Anyone else have an idea?

I don't know, it worked for me more than once.

I get what you are saying to do, I'm just saying that even if I did move it in as much as I could there would still be transparency so it wouldn't really do much other than make it less apparent, so it doesn't really solve the issue. I'd rather have it solved entirely. Maybe I could just remove the shaders or something.

It isn't a HORRIBLE problem, because I don't plan on using Monty's greeting anyway. As you can see it looks fine when he is looking straight at you, but It'll be a problem with other animations, at least that is my concern. It did the same thing without shaders, so I put them back on, I guess I just didn't notice at first.

Here is a comparison shot.

Using another animation is always a great way to avoid a problem with... the animation. I use it too. :D

Okay, I've started on a Taizong leader head, and I have another problem. When I try to export my leader head so that I will be able to work on him in NifSkope, it doesn't work. Instead of exporting him, I get a message that tells me it can't be exported with unweighted vertices. I've tried to solve many times without success, and I'm kind of confused. Can anyone help me with this?

see troubleshooting in my guide. you forhot to rig/assign something to a bone

@capo
I think cfkane had this issue. IIRC he solved it by adding an alpha not only to the moustache but the face as well. i had the same problem with meiji. i think another way i did it was add the alpha then import/export it to blender and then reswapped. but this gave me probs on meiji for sure.

EDIT: If thta doesnt fix it i think the other thing i tried was flipping the normals in blender and then exported & swapped.

@charlie88
GM Tarkin is looking great!
