How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

I don't really know what you mean by "all of the art files," because I loaded VDD from his original folder (which I should think has all of the art files) and it shows up white too.

Argh, this is frustrating! Why doesn't my screen look like yours?!?! Here's what I have now that I hit view block details.

your doing everything right. the block details change. click on a body part or in the column on the left side to expand the scene root (see the arrow there next to 0 ninode)

its best to open on nifskope by clicking on the file directly from windows explorer and now through nifskope.

or did you open up the original VDD while you still had your exported nif open in nifskope?

Nifskope puts into memory all the files of the first opened nif and doesnt look again (pain if you ask me). so it wont reload. until you close all instances of nifskope.

Okay, so what are you telling me here?

In order to get it to open right I have to create a folder say /Documents/Leaderheads/GustavAdolph/

Put all of the following in it:

- GustavHaircut.nif
- All of Frederick's art files
- All of LDF's art files
- I assume you mean DDS files when you say art files

Is that it?

Then I go to Windows Explorer, go to GustavAdolph folder and double click on GustavHaircut.nif (which is the name I gave him when I got rid of his extra hair BTW, I have the other one too). And then it should look like yours?

- all VDD dds files but only the nonshader/diff/1024 dds files that apply to the hat of frederick or clothes of LDF

go into he gustav folder and click on the VDD nif first THEN your haircut.nif

also this picture had nifskope set up right (block details and columns, not texture because its white)

attachment.php

This is not Gustav, this is VDD, I clicked the triangle and again it doesn't look like yours at all... See...
sorry not triange - thats "play" I menat the + sign by ninode in the column

You need BLOCK LIST and BLOCK DETAILS checked under view.

Alright, but another thing; the collar from VDD stayed with the head (so I assume that is attached to the head/neck) but I wanted to keep that as part of the LH, so what do I have to do to "paint" that?

it should already be painted. but lets get through this first.

Okay, sorry this is confusing, what should I have in my Gustav folder?

This is all I have in my Gustav folder right now, which I admit doesn't look like enough crap.

As you get used to this, you'll see youcan go a lot of ways on this. Here are two options:

1) make the Gustav leaderhead folder
- create xml so you can see it in game.
- needs ALL of VDDs stuff (animation, BG, art) + frederick and LDF art that applies to the bodies you need

2) just test the new nif using custom assets
- place a copy of VDD.nif in custom assets folder
- relevant art that you changed of VDD
- frdereck and LDF relevant art files (that apply to the parts you added)

so do you just want to see it in game for now or do you want to get the leaderhead xml made?

It doesn't really matter to me, I just need to know what I have to do right now. I didn't use the hat from frederick, I used the Henry Morgan LH hat from StrategyOnly's pirate mod. But, since I am using VDD's body/skeleton/head I need his animations, correct? Do I need LDF's animations too? Because I'm using his torso. And do I need the animation from Henry Morgan as well? I don't know which ones to use though. Just combine EVERYTHING?

THe only animations you need are VDD's - when you separated the LDF torso you removed its links to thta skeleton (and animations) now its part of the VDD skeleton and will move with it - same with the hat.

Lets just see it in game for now. Find you coonization custom assets folder and find the VDD folder under art/leaderheads

put a copy of the original VDD nif there and the VDD art files that you've changed (if you did) and the hat and LDF torso art files.

then open the VDD nif and then your haircut.nif and follow the swap instructions I posted earlier.

Okay I'm pretty sure I got all of the art (for LDF and Morgan) and I just merged that folder with the VDD folder so I should have all of VDD's stuff in there as well. Well, nothign showed up, I just got a python error.
