How to recognize a Novice or newbie gamer.

It might be a tutorial that you can't skip...

Bloody "Black & White" :mad:

actually, I usually like newbies. most of them were at least friendly, something I can't say about the self-pronounced pros in a game. now these are really annonying. In one of my first multiplayer warcraft3 games I was teamed up with one of those. after about 5mins he started screaming NOOOOOOOOB, IDIOT, give me gold, etc. continously along with some terms I can't name here. of course, we lost.
A week later played a 1v1-game against him and beat him up big time :evil:

Very good point, KaeptnOvi!! ;) We've had one here in the Civ2 community as well: EyesOfNight. He was absolutely the best Civ2 player and bragger. Eventually he spoiled the atmosphere so much we had to ban him. :undecide: (He did brake some forum rules as well, by the way. Especially trolling. ;))

Yeah, I wasn't talking about badly placed mines. I one time placed them on the bridge that leads to the Germans uncappable base, and a preson going to camp the enemy base ran over them.
I once saw a guy (we we're allied) driving his 19% tank to the bridge in the norteast part of Battle of The Bulge, removing my mines, driving over and of course getting killed before he even got over the bridge (and that's a small bridge). Then the german tanks came flooding in. :aargh:

The difference between a beginner and a noob is none. The difference are between the person calling someone a noob (he's a bastrd) and the one referring to them as beginners (he's not a bastrd).

I think those are all good points. Something we should all work on is not calling people a noob. Even if you are the best gamer in the galaxy and they never learn how to play in one year, how about if you were a noob. Would you like everyone cussing you out and insulting you and blocking you? Even noobs have priveleges too you know. I mean, there are "noob-only" games (which there should be more of) but sometimes you just want to which some noob @$$ anyways.

In OFP CTI. They give away vital information to the enemy, because they chat on global channel, despite all their team mates telling them to switch to side channel for the past 15 minutes.

What's OFP CTI? In Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds some people do that same thing. They automatically switch to talk to everyone so sometimes I'll hear my enemy like conversing with someone but I only hear one side of it.

noob=a bser

A bser, for those who don't play Warcraft (or maybe you know, I don't know), is someone who doesn't give a *cough* about what they're doing. They'll just sit there, or build nothing but Ancient of Wonders. I had one guy tell the other team what we were saying in allied chat. Thats a noob. Another noob thing is CALLING others a noob when they don't deserve it. Perhaps one tactical mistake, and they start yelling and cursing. I'll admit, I've done it in the past, but I realize it's wrong now.

I think the noobs are those guys in starcraft that are allied to you, don't help at all when you're fighting against another team, and shout directed at you "n00b u gonna k1ll us". Then when you get attacked by the enemy, they all deflect to the enemy's side.
Maybe it's just me, but every time I play starcraft on battle.net without my friends I get back-stabbed.

That's what sux about Starcraft you can't lock teams. One time my ally put a bunch of sunken clonies right outside my base then switched to my enemy. He was obviously better, but why turn on ur allies if u know they aren't as good. It'll only hurt you in the long run¿
