*post-turn thoughts*
we are more than 2-3 techs ahead of Portugal and lightyears ahead of India, so let's keep it that way.
Notice the pics below and you'll see India is threatening to take those nice spices away from us, we must settle that land IMMEDIATELY!

UP THE ARMS AND EXPAND THE LAND

notice 2 things, the portugese and the Indians spreading ever so closer. ERADICATE BOTH PROBLEMS ASAP!

Got it.

It would be nice to send hoplites to pillage Portuguese's lands. But that's not allowed in rules.

0 - Preturn Some MM could have been made better. Herakleia ->Walls. Xenophobae ->Library. Delphi ->Galley. Knossos ->Settler. Argos ->Library. Corinth ->Courthouse (no shields lost). A lot of changes :D

IT warrior attacks and hoplite defeats. Golden Age started.
1 - 570BC Corinth: courthouse -> The Temple of Artemis.

We are at Despotism GA :( There isn't way to get any goverments asap. I want ToA. It gives temples in our cities. Can't attack enemy troops but we can accept cultural flips. Two settlers moving don't have Hooray's dotmap here. I try to settle them optimal. Pop rush Galley in Delphi.

IT win: reg warrior vs reg hoplite.
2 - 550BC Delphi:Galley ->Settler. Knossos: Settler ->Granary. Mycenae: Worker ->Harbor.

Galley starts it's journey.

3 - 530BC Xeno: Library ->Settler

4 - 510BC Eagle's nest: Horse -> Horse.

Rhodes founded ->worker (N).

IT Construction learned. Started on Currency.
5 - 490BC

Eretria founded ->library (NE, coastal)

Portuguese talks to us. Can we accept city in peace treaty? I think we can it's not a military act. Portugal: 20 turn PT, city and 20 gold for PT.

Oporto ->Hoplite.

6 - 470BC Xeno: Settler ->Settler

7 - 450BC Thermopylae: Hoplite ->Hoplite. Eagle's nest: Horses ->horses

8 - 430BC
Troy founded ->worker. (N, near silks)

9 - 410BC Xeno: Settler ->settler, Delphi: Settler ->settler

Changing scientists in corrupt cities. Currency in 1 turn.

10 - 390BC Entered in the MA. Engineering as our free tech.
Embassy established in India. Delhi: Pyramids in 13 turns, slider 3/7/0, beakers 3/8/2 (2 clowns).

Notes:

Portuguese lack Literature, Currency and construction. Indian lack Code of Laws, Literature, Currency and construction. In wonder race: Don't build Great Library we can easily be ahead in techs. Temple of Artemis or Pyramids is preferred. Indians are building Pyramids in their capital -> we build ToA :)
Goverment type: Get out despotism ASAP. There is three options The Republic, Monarchy or Feudalism. I vote for Feudalism. (haven't been in feudalism before). For peaceful civ like us The republic is the best choice.

GA boosted Greece

The current roster:
1. DeceasedHorse
2. mitsho
3. cizzlewalk
4. Kuningas
5. Elvis1985 - UP NOW
6. Hooray - ON DECK

Feudalism is good if we plan on keeping our cities small and having a large military. But if we want to have our cities grow above size six, we'd better go with Republic. Plus Republic will get us a commerce bonus, which is especially nice since we're Commercial.
Monarchy is sort of between the two. Our cities can grow, and we can support a fairly large military, but we wouldn't have the commerce bonus and we'd have more corruption.
I suggest we go for Republic.

yes hooray is right, republic will give us every so badly needed lowered corruption and we can maximize our potential once major cities are up and running. Temple of Artemis is a MUST, at this point pyramids is not needed (since xeno has granary) so get that one quick. I think we should also get every research wonder possible, just to make sure NOBODY gets ahead PLUS we could get a scientific leader ;)

The only problem may be unhappiness since we won't have military police anymore. How many luxuries do we have? Those would help.

2 luxs and silks is connected soon. ToA will make one unhappy citizen content (temple's effect). However it takes 40 turns to complete ToA. Unhappiness isn't big problem at monarch level.

Next player should change research to Republic. (10 turns IIRC).

@cizzlewalk, the Eagle's Nest was named after that by deceased horse. :) not me. :)

I'm fine with Republic. But perhaps we want to attack Portugal in the ancient aera. Do we? ToA seems ok, too. Perhaps expanding a bit faster to the north?

mitsho, we are in the Middle Ages :)
We can try to eliminate both Portugal and India in this era. I founded 3 cities in north. sorry no screenies.

My bad Mitsho, just had to assume you named it that :smoke:
We need to worry about expansion first before we create the mega army

About the Eagle's Nest-
The Assassins society back during the crusades was supposedly based in a hidden stronghold called the Eagle's Nest, and their leader was called the Old Man of the Mountain. At least that's what I remember; maybe should have explained that a little better when I did it.

Mitsho: Yeah, glance is the correct word; If you want to be totally correct, it would be 'glanced' in that sentance since it is in the past tense.

For those of you who don't know yet, beta patch 1.13 is now available, and I suggest the rest of you d/l before continuing our game.
