Civ3 Conquests 1.15b
Civilization: Russia
Difficulty: Emperor
Map: Standard
Pre-created in the Editor due to the nature of this game. Most likely used the default settings for climate, age, etc.
Barbarians: Sedentary
Opponents: 7
Rules: All Victory Conditions except Wonder.
Preserve Random Seed ON.
Cultural Conversion ON.

Game Concept: In the game of Russian Roulette, you put a single bullet into the chamber of a gun. One unlucky person will be shot by that bullet.
In HRY4, there are 8 civs, and 8 bullets in the chamber. Every civ starts out next to a volcano. In this situation, it's not a question of if they will be struck by the volcano, but when.
Having one's capital wiped out by a volcano can be devastating, expecially early in the game. It's even fatal, should it erupt before a civ can get out its first Settler.

I came up with this idea because I just wanted to play around with Volcanoes. Also, it allowed me to make a nifty title, like "Russian Roulette." There really isn't much point to volcanoes in the C3C, but maybe this will make them a little more significant. Other than the volcanoes, this is really just a normal Emperor game.

I created a random map in the editor, then simply placed a volcano next to each starting location. I should probably mention that we are not allowed to move our starting Settler. That would be a bit unfair to the AIs who are too stupid to ever move their first Settler.

Our starting location:

Looking for 5 or 6 players total:
1. betazed
2. Corrado
3. grahamiam
4. gozpel
5. mitsho
6. GrandMasta Nick
7. Hooray

Ooh. Neat.

Count me in.

if you'd have me, i'd like to join. the volcanos are a somewhat interesting twist but I'm really curious to see how well the cossack blitzing works (i'm guessing that it'll prove devastating to the AI). this would be my 1st real SG and I'm just starting to play C3C regularly so I can understand if you would rather have someone with more experience. I am a regular emperor player (with a few diety wins) in PTW.

Ok, you're in grahamiam.

You know, I meant to say that I wanted to try out the new Cossack as well, but forgot to. Thanks for mentioning it.

looks fun Hooray :D
but, like with Gogf, I must decline. I'm already in a DyP w/ Russia, but I'll make sure to watch this in my off season. Gut Gluck!

The cossack is my favorite unit after Sipahi. :goodjob:

The blitzing is great. Leads to lot of elite units (just like tanks) and hence lots of leaders and these Cossack armies are strong enough to take down infantries fortified in cities (armies now getting extra offensive power in C3C)

Cossacks (and sipahis) are the only two middle age units that I continue to build and have use for in the modern ages.

Hopefully we will have the chance to see all that in this game.

Between the Cattle and the fear of Mt. Doom, I humbly suggest we build a Settler first and build a second city somewhere downriver. Insurance against being wiped out before 2500 BC.

Since we're expansionist and have a scout, I don't think we'll have to worry early about barb attacks...

I see I am first in the roster. If you post the save by tonight (EST) I can play tonight.

End Quoth

Had a volcano wreck a trade route early in an SG game (JB03)and it ruined our credit rating. That was pretty significant!

Have fun guys.

erm.

Hooray, do you want me? I'd play... I have significantly less sg's going on at the moment, so this game would be nice.

I might be allowed to advert a little bit in this thread, am I?
Please take a look at this game! It's a nice one and I'd really like to do it. After all these bad lucks... ;)

mfG mitsho

Oh what the heck, I'll let you both join. Welcome aboard, mitsho and GrandMasta Nick!

Oh, and I just remembered something I forgot to say in the first post:
Exploits in general are disallowed. I think that pretty much goes for any SG, though.

Since I am playing first, should I play 10 or 20 turns? (I ask because in most Sgs the first person plays 20 turns)

3350 BC: Moscow Settler -> Scout. That is it. I will not build anything else from Moscow. Our second city will be the primary city. Hence I will place it to use teh cow and the game that I see.

3300 BC: worker finishes road starts on forest chop!

3250 BC:

3200 BC: Scout pops hut and gets map. I see forest terrain all around my scout. I will try to get him out of the forest.

3100 BC: zzz...

3050 BC: Forest Chop reveals BG.

Worker should now chop the forest and mine the game. the scout that is forming in the capital should pop the hut that is visible.
