Huge Earth TSL Map

Are there civs whose abilities really don't fit with their TSL start ? I would assume Lady Six Sky must struggle to get a lot of cities in a 6 tiles area given how narrow central america is.
Scotland also comes to mind. At least they are forced to become a naval civ early game in order to found more than two cities. Though I guess they are the other half of the "British" Empire. :mischief:

Hello everyone. I understand the loyalty mechanic makes it very difficult. They really should of allowed us to turn off capital revolts for this map. A simple patch would of made a fan favorite from this series more enjoyable. That would of solved the issue. The map isn't that bad however. I actually like that it's a compact map that forces your hand towards warfare. How do you balance it with the loyalty issues tho?

I'm playing as Rome now. Wish iron was in Italy. Lol.
Only have one city state. Cahokia. The rest are turned off.

Civs in game. Try it out. Pick these civs.
Rome, Germany, Spain, Russia, Catherine France, Vikings, Ottomans, Arabia, Persia, Chandragupta India, Scythia, Genghis Mongolia, Korea, Qin China, Khmer, Zulu, Mali, Aztecs, Cree, Inca.

That's balanced I believe. A variety of Civilizations in the world.

France will always revolt going to Germany. This is good. Allows Germany and Rome fighting for dominance in Western Europe. If you are using Rome you must attack Spain by turn 15-20 to secure Iron resource. Spain is difficult to take. You only have one way in. A mountain pass forces you to plow right through. You can't wait long. If you do they will have too many troops and crush you.

By this time Germany already has Paris via revolt. A Frankish empire is being built to your north. The Vikings will settle Scotland creating a nice trading empire and will be an issue further in the game. They will have a great Navy with those longships all around the Mediterranean sea. Ignore it. Your next target as Rome are the Ottomans. Take Istanbul and rename it Constantinople. Now you almost have your own private lake. Small still. Very productive great lands full of resources.

Try this for Europe if you want Rome or Germany to dominate Western Europe. France will always revolt and join Germany. The rest of civs I listed should make it past the loyalty revolt mechanic besides France.

PS4 peasant pic. Lol. Going good so far. Turn 70. King difficulty.

So did the Romans. :p A lack of resources was one of the primary motivations for Rome's explosive expansion.

Even with Eleanor??
I don't know.

It's strange. What I noticed is if I leave out France on the map Germany always revolts for some reason and joins Rome even tho they have nobody to the west of them. You would think they would survive the first 50 turns. They don't tho.

If France is in the game, France/Paris then revolts and joins Germany. Basically this allows a Frankish mini empire that Germany owns in Europe. Makes Europe more entertaining. Rome has the Mediterranean Lake. Germany has a decent size Empire to the North.

Pic. Turn 84. 800 bc

Medina revolted. Now its Carthage. Now I finish off the Ottomans.

That should be enough for Persia and Arabia.

I love huge maps, so big SKYNET would struggle to power it is just about the right size :D

Hmm. Probably the last time I put Khmer on the earth map. They destroyed China. I wanted to send a trade caravan to the Han China as Rome. Maybe Khmer are OP?

Rome/Han China video.
