So I guess this means the Achaemenids will likely be called "Persians".
Armor piercing unit?
Anyway, I'd like to note there is always a possibility to name civs like
France
Ancien Regime France
Napoleonic France
French Republic

@Catoninetales_Amplitude
Will the team create its own intro theme song or will you save on resources and play instead a version of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor to a 2min clip of humankind's journey through history climaxing with an apocalyptical event and the end of life on Earth? Since we're talking french cartoons and all
(In case my avatar isn't obvious enough)
I may have posted this before.

You know what's terrible?
Achaemenids, Parthia and Sassanids all fall under classical era.
So there is once again the risk of ancient Iran being reduced to Achaemenids.
Please God not Immortal unit (which is overhyped anyway). Please give them Cataphracts in some version, or whatever else....

It's not impossible combat system is more detailed and has such things as armor. It is going to happen on a tactical layer so it has room for more nuance than 1UPT.
Endless Legend, the previous Amplitude game, certainly took into account various weapons and armor types, "talismans" and some pretty exotic (Fantasy) Units. I would rather see fairly simple Combat Factors for the units, but wider Tactical variations and bonuses on their 'tactical battlefield' - Bonuses for Higher Ground, flanking or rear attacks, combining the right types of units side-by-side or behind each other ("support"), and maybe even Tactical Advantages inherent in some of the Emblematic Units, like the extra flexibility of the Roman Legion's formations or the extra cohesion of the Greek City-State Phalanx or the wedge formation of Macedonian Hetairoi. If all we're going to do is line up Units and count factors, we might just as well do Automatic Tactical Battles and avoid all the fuss.
As terrain SHOULDThe combat system is similar to Endless Legend in concept, but differs in the details of the resolution. Some aspects are simpler, others are probably more developed. In my experience, terrain definitely matters.

Will culture reveals be once a week until release or will they be amped up once the release dats gets closer?I'd love to tell you more, but then they'd send The Cleaner after me, and I am not ready to face that yet. So I will just say that it matters in some ways I did not expect of this style of "unstacking armies hybrid system," and there also some neat additions as the game progresses.
I'm very excited to try the new combat. I do appreciate the army system in EL and the terrain there, so I can't wait to see the updates you guys have made to make it work with HK. We wouldn't get all the cultures by release if they stick to one per week (assuming it's released this year), so I strongly suspect we'll start seeing two per week at some point. Will culture reveals be once a week until release or will they be amped up once the release dats gets closer?
Or they leave some cultures unannounced. Seeing as they are still in pre alpha I don’t know if 2020 is realistic. We wouldn't get all the cultures by release if they stick to one per week (assuming it's released this year), so I strongly suspect we'll start seeing two per week at some point.
