Possible addition:
In an early post from one of the conventions, and referred to by @Catoninetales_Amplitude, they showed a set of 'Decisions' relating to Civic/Social Policies. The photo showed very early, bare-bones slides, but it appears that at certain points in the game the player will be presented with a decision among 2 or more choices concerning some aspect of their Faction's social or civic development. Apparently, based on the decisions taken you can 'guide' the development of Social Policy/Civic through the game.
I believe the number 150 was mentioned as the total number of 'Decisions' or decision points (not sure which), which would seem to indicate that the Civ VI Civics and Social Policy Cards are combined into this one system/mechanic.

That sounds a lot like how events relate to goverments in Endless Space 2. Which is great! I love both of them, especially the goverment stuff llike goverment types, the senate, senators, parties and laws. Super great system which civ is really really missing.

I played so much Endless Space 2 since I heard about humankind and started exploring other amplitude games :crazyeye: it's a great game which makes me very hopeful of Humankind

I've never been able to quite get into Endless Space 2, but have played a lot of Endless Legend in the past year, and I agree that the previous Amplitude 4X games can probably tell us a lot about the types of mechanisms they will use in Humankind - especially ones that worked well in previous games.

awesome can't wait to listen to it....oddly I was just wondering today if Humankind would have Era tracks, or culture specific tracks
I have my fingers crossed for culture-specific, but that would total 60 unique tracks, which is a lot. Endless Legend had 32 at launch, whilst Endless Space 2 had 36, so I have a feeling they will be tied to the game's eras, with maybe 5 or 6 tracks each.

I'd rather the full OST be played all the time or at least add tracks but dont stop playing old ones. I have to turn off Civ 6's music by end game because its nothing but overly bombastic orchestral music it doesnt suit the gameplay there needed to be more ambient tracks and darker tracks rather than endless triumphalism.

Civ V having music that would only play at peace or only at war worked really well in making sure the music fit the mood, no upbeat jingles while men were brought to the ground by machine guns or bomber aircraft carpet a city in explosives.

  1. Ancient Era (previously Bronze Era)
  2. Classical Era
  3. Medieval Era
  4. Early Modern Era
  5. Industrial Era
  6. Contemporary Era
I like this a lot.

EDIT: I see some confusion from others on Twitter already but I think that Early Modern is great and hope you guys don't change it back. It's great for the game you guys are going for, especially since being less Western-centric.

I like "Early Modern". None of eras were named as such by their contemporaries anyway, and it avoids cultural eurocentric terms such as "renaissance" or "enlightenment" or geographic context such as "exploration era".

I also prefer "Contemporary Era" name over "Modern", "Atomic" etc.

I’ll be honest, although I’m pleased about Ancient Era replacing Bronze Era, I’m not entirely convinced by the term “Early Modern”.

It just feels clunky and out of place among the other single-word titles, being inconsistent with the otherwise established naming convention. Furthermore, the inclusion of an “Early Modern Era” feels as though it should necessitate the existence of a “Late Modern Era” as well.

I appreciate that “Early Modern” is probably the correct term used by historians, but personally I think “Exploration Era”, “Enlightenment Era”, “Renaissance Era”, or “Colonial Era” work a lot better, and would be less confusing to the masses.
