So I labor turn after turn to build hunters lodges and then I realize...deadliver you are a handsome devil! Only After that do I realize, dude hunters lodges need a wonder along the lines of catacomb libralus.

Anyone else share this sentiment (me being a handsome devil that is :dubious:).

Not a one, although the hunter's lodge idea works.

TBH I'd love to have EVERY building tied to a wonder that gives to civilization-wide freebies.... I rush Catacombs and golden forge and tower of eyes for a reason, although the dungeons aren't really all that useful with my playstyle.

Some of the wonders are a bit overpowered, really. Free forge in every city and +1 hammer to all engineers? It really rewards bee lining for that tech. After this, great engineers spawn very frequently. The golden forge provides mithril, something probably akin in power to the Three Gorges Dam in Vanilla Civ4, but it also happens to provide a free weaponsmith?

Guild of Hammers is extremely useful. I love the "free x in every city" wonders.

Always thought there should be a free granary/walls/courthouse one too.

I just find the prereq buildings very annoying and could be covered by a wonder

I do love the "free X in every city" and these should be national wonders, not exclusive world wonders. I'll definitely agree with the granary and smokehouse. Not so much about the courthouse one though (makes expanding too easy), though free walls is kinda covered by the great wall, even if potential builders for that is limited.

Doing this would defeat the point of them. Why woult you ever build the thing in question if you're guaranteed something that will do all the work for you?

Yeah I think these would be Wonders not national wonders. I just think there should be Wonders that make sense. Having the Ranger HQ parked in one of your cities should entitled you to training benefits throughout your civ. There is a reason the pyramids were changed in vanilla civ. That doesn't make much sense. The great wall also was changed (to something much cooler and more realistic). Also there is nothing to stop having a Wonder that does not grant free courthouses but instead increases their effectiveness (yes I know there are palaces but I am greedy )

There is, courthouse + basilica + 4 * law mana == phree city, get moar law mana if you build maintenance increasing stuff, or don't play Order, or whatever.

Lol i barely ever play order, so I honestly don't know much about them.

What's the point of having to click building X, wait 5 turns, click building Y, wait 5 turns, then click building Z and wait 5 turns for _every_ city? This isn't a matter of interesting choices (in the words of Sid Meier), but mind numbing micromanagement. In mid to late game, I set my new cities on automated production just to save me this hassle. One can make the buildings require a later tech, so building the buildings now provides a much needed boost until they become universally available (plus if the national wonder gets captured, suddenly the difference between the "free" building and the "real" building becomes apparent!). Alternately, these wonders can also require X number of a building already be built, much like the Great Library or the Theater of Dreams require their respective pre-req buildings.

I do see your point actually. For basic things like elder councils, markets, monuments, etc, it Is just annoying micromanagement.

But for things like prereq buildings. training yards, hunting lodges, etc, those ARE interesting choices. You don't need them everywhere, and you're probably not going to build them everywhere.

I like the national wonder idea for the very basic stuff. More advanced things, like courthouses, should be a world wonder that only one team gets.

Of course I am getting them everywhere. If a building is not downright horrible, such as denying the city access to an important resource, I build it in every city of mine. And I complete my cities before I set them to permanently spam units, usually 1 every turn.

Witch is, considering that they cost maintenace the last time I checked not a smart thing to do.
And to be honest, if you can complete cities in peace, you are probably playing below your optimal dificaulty level.

I know Rise of Mankind has a few advanced versions of Settler that build cities with some of the basic buildings already in place...that might be simpler than new wonders.

Tier 2 Settler - City starts w/granary, market, elder council, monument, barracks, palisade
Tier 3 Settler - Add library, courthouse, inn, walls, forge, stable, archery range

...or something similar. :) Just jack the hammers and prereqs up on the advanced versions.
