Hurry Production Of Partially Built Units?

This is driving me crazy and I hope someone can tell me what I’m missing:

I have a city that I started building a Spearman in – it will take six turns to complete. A couple of turns later I decide I want to speed up that production, assuming I can use Gold to do so. I can’t find any way to do this.

I can buy a brand NEW spearman (or any other unit) instantaneously with gold assuming I have the funds, but how do I rush-complete the existing unit in my queue?

You can`t.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. This is one of the things that bothers me. If we start producing something, then we won't be able to buy it. For example, if I am building a coliseum because my empire is unhappy, and desperately need that built, it's going to take say 40 turns. But then I suddenly get money, and have enough to outright buy it. But I can't. That's annoying too...

Actualy it makes Perfect sence. It is way more realisitc to donate the full sum for constructing a building or train/arm a unit but It makes not so much sence to go Oh i`ll be all smart and rush halfway through. Also it adds more value in to what you are building and what you can purshase essentialy eliminating the "buying turns" mechanic that was so easy to abuse in CIV3 and 4.

Switch your production to something else. Then you'll be able to rush it.

The price is still the same tho unless I missed something.

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree. How does it make sense that you can rush production of something that is 0% built and not even in your queue, but can’t when it is half completed already? Consider this a Feature Request, if any of the 2K folks are reading! :)
