I Already Own Civ4 - Should I Buy Complete?

I just picked it up (Didn't have BTS or Colonization)

- It is all four products on one disc.

- The disc is not required after installation.

- The game does come with a quick start manual and tech tree poster (for Civ4 BTS). The full PDF manual is on the disc.

I too have just gotten Civilization IV The Complete Edition. (The version that was released on May 12th 2009)

It installs all four games at once, Though Colonization requires a little input towards the end (Telling the installer where to install) It's mostly automated.

You do NOT need the DVD to play after you install.

Comes with a quick start guide and a tech tree poster.

Colonization seems to be only at version 1.00 though. Tried to update within the game but the update didn't work. Edit: Manually installing the patch seems to work.

The rest looks up to date.

Guess I won't have to wait til Civ IV shows up on gog.com :) Freedom!!!!!!

So now a DRM-less version of the game has been released. It is ok to patch it away on mine?

So can I blame Civ for burning out 2 graphic cards in ~3 years then? :-)

I wants me a refund!

And unfortunately, one was ATI, and the other NVIDIA - so about my only recourse is to go with ma gut and change which manufacturer I've had in the past, so no more XFX or Sapphire hehe.

Both times due to a failed Fan. I think its ASUS "branded" from here on out.

this is funny - when I originally read the subject of this post, I thought it said ...

"I own Civ4, should I buy a computer"

And witch patch come with Colonization for this Complete Edition? Colonization and DRM are the reasons for me to get this. And what about updating on 3.19?

Also, note that once you update BtS(non-collector's) to 3.19, you no longer need the disk in the drive either. 3.19 officially patches that out. The advantage of collector's is that you can still play 3.17 and 3.17 mods without the disk, as most mods still need to be updated to 3.19.

In other words, get Complete.

It's the best deal, and the only negative is that there is no paper version of the manual. Nevertheless, there are pdf files for all the manuals.

DRM free, Warlords, BTS, Colonization, one DVD instead of 5 CDs?

It's no contest.

Civ IV complete is way better than Civ IV alone. By the same price of Civ IV Vanilla when it was released (in my case was US $42.77, including a 7% sales tax), you get Civ IV, Warlords, BtS, Colonization & all the patches previous to BtS 3.19.

Other advantages you get from Civ IV complete include the following:

-Due to its default lack of DRM, you can just install it & no longer need the disc. That's a big plus when you intend to use the game for a long time in the future.

-By having all of those patches included, bugs will be less & you'll lose less time updating.

-By being all-in-one-package, you won't waste valuable Civing time by changing discs.

-If you lose the original discs or if they get damaged, you'll have the perfect reason to get Civ IV complete.

I actually bought complete while also having Vanilla, Warlords & BtS.
