I can't download icq!

I had downloaded icq 2000a in SEP 00 with my ancient pc.
With this new pc i'm having probs to download icq 2000b...(99% downloaded...1s)i had succeeded to get it through start>Search>icq* but my father formated all a few days ago cause we had probs with the graphic card etc (again).Now i'm having the same prob but don't want to get icq through the way i had used cause it makes probs with dll files.
How can i do?

Seriously, are you having trouble downloading it or running it?

Damien, it's "normal" that long downloads "freeze" at 99%. Don't worry, when it reaches 99%, then seems to crash. Leave the computer alone. Go take a coffee or go to the john. Then come back after 5 minutes. The download should be complete. I've never understood why >2MB files always freeze at the end but that must be a Microsoft bug. But the most important is/are:
_ don't kill the task even though it might be not responding
_ leave the pc alone, don't do anything else while it's freezing. Otherwise it can become unstable.

Another suggestion is that you use MSN Messenger. Ok it's surprising that I for the 1st time suggest someone to use a Microsoft stuff but it's true. It's light (only 700Kb) fast and quite stable. Sometimes it bugs but the bugs I've seen are minor...
