 I am sorry but I am very illiterate with the computer. Literally, I need every step told to me, including how to make new folders and all that. The question:

I have no idea how to make scenarios. I want to make them, but I like I said have literally NO idea how. I also have no idea how I
am supposed to download the scenarios - or anything on this site. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Very hard to help you much at this stage. We mostly deal with the walking wounded at this Mash.

Start by downloading a few scenarios and playing them first. Then have a look at all the files that came with the scenario. Usually, the scenario will have instructions on what to do after downloading.

By then you will have more specific questions and some help will be forthcoming. The place to download a scenario is on the main site,

www.civfanatics.com

on the left there is a civ2 area. Look for downloads.

to download a scenario: first click on the scenario you like. i suggest one from this site to begin with. once you start the download, you'll see a file download bar shoot across your screen. depending on the size of the file, and the speed of your modem, it will vary in how fast it goes. after the file has finished downloading, a window will pop open, its a program called winzip, it will extract the scenario files and place them on your computer. the proper place to put them would be in the civ2 scenario folder. VERY IMPORTANT: EACH SCENARIO MUST HAVE ITS OWN FOLDER!!!! the path you will probably use to extract the files is c:\Program Files\civ2 mge\Scenario\scenario name. that's probably the path you would use, but it depends on where you installed civ2. once the files have been extracted. run civ2. slect play scenario, and then look for the folder where you put the scenario. open the folder, and you should see a scenario file there. open that file and the scenario shuld start. NOTE: most scenarios these days come with a readme file, i suggest you read that first. it'll be in the same folder as the rest of the scenario files you downloaded. if you still can't figure it out, instant message me on AOL, my screen name is dschowy, ill try to walk you through it one step at a time. Good luck downloading!:king:

This is harder to do than downloading a scenario. the very basics you will need to do is: create a map using the map creator program that comes with most civ2 versions. next, you need to start a game on that map, then enable the cheat mode and give each civ whatever techs you want them to have. then make the worlds cities on your map, you do that by creating settlers whever you want a city, then making them build. next you use the cheat menu to give the cities a size and whatever improvements you want them to have. then use the cheat menu to switch to the next civ and repeat the process. after you've created all the civs, add the terrain improvements, then units where ever you want them. after that, give each civ the government of your choice, then money, and finally attitudes and treaties. when you are done, use the cheat menu to save the game as a scenario. presto! you've made a really basic scenario. once you get more advanced, you can change what the units look like, change the tech tree, names of civs, units, leaders, dialog for negotiations, etc. but i suggest you try starting with the basic units available, much easier that way.:) G'luck!

That's understating things a bit!

BTW Merrick, its a lot easier to use a premade map then making your own ;)
