I Fancy trying a zwk PBEM game.

Hahaha, oops, not Hitler. Anyhow, for your questions.

Perhaps Fuhrer Hess' understanding is not so clear:

- As should already be obvious, the Soviet Union will be neutral toward Axis agression against France, Britain, and their colonies.

So, I will not be at war with you for attacks anywhere outside Greece and Poland.

Also, I am not at all allied with the Allies, good God no. There is a different between "align" and "ally", after all. I merely made an agreement with them about protection of some portions of their territory to install security near my borders, not to mention to get some cities for myself. Since there is no alliance, there is nothing for an alliance to entail. There is only an agreement involving the stability of this region of Europe.

And about Polish or Greek units attacking you:

3) If any Axis or Minor Axis units cross the border into Poland, the U.S.S.R. will declare war on the party or parties who infringed on that territory. Although troops are not allowed across the borders I will define, Axis cities may use any land squares which are accessible to their cities but lying in Poland.

3) If any Axis or Minor Axis units cross the border into Greece, the U.S.S.R. will declare war on the party or parties who infringed upon that territory. Although troops are not allowed across the borders I will define, Axis cities may use any land squares which are accessible to their cities but lying in Greece.

I learned from a similar Soviet pact in ZWK PBEM 3 that Poland and Greece should be not be hostile to the Axis, as that would simply be an unacceptable problem for the Axis and would guarantee war with Russia. If it helps, consider Poland and Greece completely independent nations with independent militaries, neutral to your actions in France and elsewhere.

There is no risk to you whatsoever, all you have to do is not attack these two countries, and your eastern flank will be secure.

What if forces from Poland attack us?
We cannot sit around and let them attack us at will.
Pap

While General de Gaulle was instrumental in negotiating the terms of this agreement on behalf of the great nations of Greece and Poland, he is resigned to the fact that the Germans have turned their greedy eyes upon the riches of France. We believe Stalin also sees this reality and unfortunately, he has offered no such protection for France or Britain.

The agreement only applies to actions against Poland and Greece.

The Polish and Greek leaders insist that they mean no ill will and only wish to live in peace and dignity while the greater powers of Europe appear destined to slaughter each other's children. A key term of this agreement is that no offensive will be made from Minor Allied Poland or from Greece, other than to defend their sovereignty. These nations reserve the right to equip a defensive military only, so long as the Axis Powers, Soviets, and other nations respect our borders.

If forces from either Greece or Poland attack Axis units outside their respective borders without a prior attack or violation of territory, the agreement is void and the Soviets are released from their obligation of protection of that nation.

Heres' a screenshot of my game.

The cities are a different style.

Darius, what version are you using?

It appears that the main communication line between Paris and Berlin has been severed. French technical advisor Sio de Bibble tells me "A communication disruption can mean only one thing: Invasion"

Pap, you might want to turn on private messaging

my cities look different than the ones in the screenshot.....

- Not to worry. No disrespect to Koby, I just didn't really care for the city art in ZWK, so I went into the cities file and changed it.

I couldn't help but notice that your map of protection included the neutral cities north of Poland too.

- I'm not actually protecting them, it was just carelessness in my picture. Does kind of serve that purpose though, since he hasn't troops in Konigsberg sufficient to take them, he can't get them there from Poznan, and I don't think he has a transport nearby. I guess they're kind of an unintended bonus.

- Credit where credit is due, it was Duke's idea in ZWK 3. The reason there were so many details and alterations in this one is because Tim needed more convincing (probably 1000+ words; my hands are sore:)) in this game than sas apparently did.

- Just e-mail pap; that's what I've been doing. Anyway, I looked back and he did redo his turn in the new version, so it's definitely Willem's turn. I'll PM him and tell him on another PBEM thread we're both on.

Once I poked around a little, I realized he had left the e-mail link active. But by that time, I couldn't resist the temptation of using that idiotic line from that idiotic movie.

Forgive my unseasoned ignorance, but what movie was that?

Star wars episode 1: the phantom menace

My kids love it, so I've seen it more times than I can count. It sucks more and more each and every time I see it.
