Warlords can't load Civ4 saves. But if you start up original Civ4 the saves should still be there.

homeyg, call a gamestop or EB games store and when you ask for the title give the full name "civilization 4: Warlords Expansion pack". If you say Civ4 warlords or warlords they might not be able to find it on their computer system. But the EB games at the River front mall has it. Getting there before they close in the current weather we are having is another thing though. Will be having an Abita while playing my first game.

Interesting the Redcoats and Cossacks got nerfed but nothing to the Praetorians? Even at 45 hammers they are still beastly in the early game. From what I've read here, they were runaway favorite for the most OP unit.

Odd.
Not hugely suprised. Axemen counter Praetorians pretty well hammer for hammer. The problem is that the AI doesn't adjust to building all axemen to counter praetorians it still uses archers for city defense. If they just tweaked the AI they would be toned down. In MP this isn't a huge issue.

In Vanilla, that is certainly true, but building massed Axemen is a good way to die if the opponent has Chariots now. So the 'standard' solution to Praetorians has a risk attached to it now.

By default, there will less Axemen in the world (at the very least production will have to be split with Spears). Less Axemen = more power for Praetorians. I was kind of expecting to see the cost go up a bit more or something else to happen to compensate for the Axemen being less attractive to spam.

Not really. You'll just have to build some spears in addition to your axemen. Besides UUs are supposed to be useful, Praetorians supported by chariots will be annoying. Especially if you build stables and turn the chariots into medics.

I do enjoy the fact that Carthage's UU will also do pretty well against Praetorians.

The new title music really sucks ass. :D

Whats the new menu like? Whats the music like?

Menu is exactly the same, though there is a more interesting background image to the left of it. The music I didn't really notice.

It has not erased any of my saved games.

The new title music is fitting and as good as I would expect.

Darn! Just installed it and tested the maximum number of Civs limit. It's still 18 civs!!!
Also, like always, all game settings go back to default and you must reset them. Sigh.
Okay, all minor gripes aside, I'm really happy! Off to try it out now.
Thanks EBWorld!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, I see. Was wondering why it was telling me I had the wrong disk in. Duh.

Here's a screenshot of the main menu:

All the scenarios have custom menu screens and music. The main menu music sounds somewhat Middle Eastern, and the lyrics are apparently Swahili (see this thread). The music itself is fine, but the vocals sound pretty goofy to my ear.

Its nice to see we've gone from a positive view of the Earth from space to some warlord wacthing his armies rape and pillage.

Leaving work I was so excited. I had a pre-order at EB Games to pick up, day off tomorrow and wife off at a hen party. Get home, load the game, get ready to rock the world with viking axemen... . No Blue Marble. Flat ugly vanilla map. I can't even bear to play it. <sigh> Back to Sevomod.

As usual, I spoke before trying all solutions. Re-installing Blue Marble does the trick!

Solution to new "rock paper scissors warfare"

Bring spearmen w/ axe rush (only true axe counter is countered by spear)

Bring chariots with preatorian rush (only preat counter countered by chariot)

Hit them with catapults to damage both units in the stack.

I got my copy of Warlords a few hours ago and I'm about to load it up :D
Congratulations to all of you who have it already.
Yay Firaxis!
