I got an email from the FBI

They probably can't spell "hundred" either.

I can't get on WoW for more than a few hours before someone tries to phish my account info by claiming they are from Blizzard and want me to contact them at some wacky URL. It must work or they wouldn't spend so much time spamming everybody.

I like how the FBI is stationed in Lagos, Nigeria.

You should send the $360.00 and collect your money. What are you waiting for? The FBI has verified it. I'm not sure why you needed to make a thread about it, other than to gloat about the fact that you won $800.000 maybe?

DON'T. EVEN. REPLY. It's almost 100% and scam.

Nah, the OP should create a gmail account for a fictional person and write back, like those 419eater guys do. Jerking those scammers around wastes their time so they have less time to spend on real victims. Plus you might be able to get some high-value comic material out of it.

I think that since the FBI are watching you, you should make a complaint to the federal regulators about this invasion of privacy.

only 800k? There are currently 140M € on the table in Italy. The advertisment claims from years now "Lottery: you can't win if you don't play".
Turns out they were wrong, apparently Zulu9812 won without playing :D

Sadly, someone somewhere is sending "Mr. Jack Williams" $360.00.

Not all the bad comes for the worse. This simply means that they earned a piece of wisdom at the cost of $360.

$360 from the look of things.

Well, at least it's a variation on Nigerian royalty :crazyeye:

Wow, I got this thing the other day too. I find it amazing that people actually fall prey to this sort of thing. Scammers are nutty.

Its just harmless entrepreneurship from the Libertarian's Paradise.

US citizens cannot legally take place in any lottery or prize winning event based in a foreign nation I believe.

That could just be Canada though.

Eh, I've never heard that. OLG specifically states that if you're an American and you win a large sum in Ontario, you will need to consult with a "tax professional"

If I send 10,000 of these out, one of the recipients is bound to be an elderly grandmother with no inkling of 419 scams.

I've often wondered if I could get paid a few thousand gold to properly write one of those scams.

Almost as well worded as the one my mother once got "for to make bigger of penis". Hilarious.
