I hate missle shields!

The missiles are really annoying in RON.

I got a script to disactivate both of them, makes the game way better.


Cruise missile spamming is so lame, and since I hate future techs I have no choice but to watch my wonders crumble.

well, i love cruise missiles, those are more reasonable. Its just the nukes i hate, better yet, i like the silos better than the actual nukes or missiles.


I built like 15 silos once to make this guy think thats where the nukes were. When he declared war and the attacked the fake silos i nuked his army from my real silo and strolled into his capitol.

Nice idea, never actually tried that though... I llove cruise missles, who can't? They are the only way to take out the other guys AA so your Air force can wipe out his city. Same effect as nukes, no Armeggedon! Note: This only works with over 5 Airbases maxed out with bombers, and a full army at your disposal.

Must say, I do hate Missile Shields. In the rare event that I let the game get to Information age I have to make an effort to blast away the enemy's libraries as soon as they start researching it. I mean, if your going to play Information age, may aswell be proper about it and use everything a modern army would-which includes Missiles. My opinion is that if you dont want missile shields, dont let it get to Information age, stop it at...Industrial, or Enlightenment. Then just play with BiPlane Wars!
...I did that once before, in a LAN game, everyone agreed to not use infantry or navy excessively so everyone had masses of Biplanes. Oh, memories.

What makes so many people think I'm a nuke crazed n00b that carpet nukes people like this: "I Carpetn00kzyou!! lolololololololol!!!!" Even though I usually don't use nukes, It's still really unrealistic, and I usually use cruise missles, not nukes.

I enjoy having the missile shield, but I began to enjoy the Information Age less and less. I know limit tech advancement to the Industrial Age. I like the bi-planes and the need to perform more tactical offensives than the "shock & awe" tendencies of the last ages.

I use stealth bombers. Much more precise when missile shields are up, and no armageddon counter.

Which is why i also think htye should make an option to take the nukes out because its annoying when im trying to have a nice long fun game and the a.i's nuke the world into armageddon.

There is a way, disable Info age-or I'm sure you could crawl through the XML files and either delete Nukes from the code (which might have game read error repercussions) or just re do the price to make them ludicrously expensive(add a few dozen zeros on the price 10000000000000000000metal per nuke etc) that way no nation will be able to afford them.

Anyway, why si it that when he Missile Shield is mentioned you all think of Nukes? I mean, I'm no Historical Accuracy buff like some people arround, but I dont want to throw myself into a full fledged Nuclear war, that truly is cowardly in my honest opinion. My main offensive from a missile point of view is 3 or 4 Cruise Missiles per city I want to take. If it's unit trouble your having then often a well place Cruise Missile can take out the Supply Truck, leaving the enemy open to attrition damage on their way to you-hence you really only fight half the army.
Last time I used a Nuke was the last time I played through a conquest, on Toughest level. It was me and the Aztecs by the end, each controlling about half the world (me Eurasia, them Americas and Africa + Oz). I managed to take a few regions on the West of America from my Japan army which exposed their Capitol. I had to nuke them simply for the fun of whiping out the all powerfull Aztecs with one final Nuke of DOOM. Unfortunatley for them they were researching Missile shield at the same time and were nearly complete by the time I nuked the capitol. Hehe.

Yes, missile shields suck more **** than a two bit h ker working overtime when the entire US fleet is on shore leave.

I think that nuclear missile shield should only be activated in a city that has a working SAM site (similar to the NIKE defenses) that way you can always sneak a special forces into the city to deactivate them (which would be a pretty cool thing to do).

Nothing wrong with missile shields when you have them and no other nation does. Then you can enjoying sending nukes out to people within the comfort of your own defences!

But if the enemy get hold of them, it's annoying. But I always have the last four techs available because I need to research Global Prosperity to get my lovely Stealth Bombers!

With me, I am happy with the shield, even if the AI has it too. It gives me the comfort of not being able to be nuked. My strategy for being attacked is a few simple fortresses and a whole load of troops/mechs.

I like nukes which is why I stop tech at Modern Age and play then.
