I need help with governments

Somebody please help i need some advice...i am currently in a monarch game with the chinese, i would like to think of myself as an ecellent civ 3 conquests player, but i am having trouble with one area in particular. I as the chinese must switch to communism once i research it, however i was wondering what the best gov to choose b4 i get communism, i switched from depot. to republic, but i wasnt sure if feudalism was better..there shunned gov. is monarchy...any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance

i dont think shunned govt makes any difference, may make a TINY bit of difference to the AI but nothing else

I Think it is the AI prefered government and has no effect on the actual human player.

Shunned/preferred governments only have a slight effect on the AI's attitude toward you. Nothing else. Don't feel that you must switch to your civ's preferred gov - you get no benefit from it. I pay no attention to shunned/preferred govs and I doubt most players do.

it doesnt affect what govt the AI changes to either does it?

Preferred/Shunned governments make very little difference to the AI, and NONE to the Player.

When you are in an AI's preferred government, it will be slightly nicer to you. When you are in its shunned government (and it is NOT in that government), it will be slightly *less* nice to you. Note: the governments it chooses to be in have no relationship to its own preferred/shunned list.

ok thanks for the great input guys...but i was always under the impression that if u had a shunned govt in rule, ur people were less happy, maybe i am wrong but this is what i believe to have read quite a couple times in faq's and walkthroughs...anyone got anything on govt effecting the people??

I believe you are wrong... preferred/shunned governments only play role with relationship to AI... Please read Padma's note above... He is absolutely right about what he said.
