In response to your PM
A full purge of Civ IV so you can do a clean install with no bits left from a prior install (cache files are in the bolded directory, they sometimes get left behind after add/remove, just make sure u got "show hidden files" switched on, and if they there, zap that directory, if they gone - thats fine)
Download Patch V1.52 (or move it out of the game directory if you already downloaded via the game interface) via
http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/downloads.htm
Before Patching
Windows add/remove in control panel remove Civ - success or failed do the following
Delete the Civ IV Directories in:
- Programs/Firaxis
- My Documents / My Games
- C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\My Games\Civilization IV\ Its a hidden directory if not seen just check you have "show hidden files" switched on
- Delete Windows/Temp files
- Delete Browser Temp files
Load from discs
Load Patch V1.52 (This is very very important, its a must have Patch, stay with it, not using it will only mask the true issues as life proceeds)
