Hi all,

While waiting for Revolution, I decided to toss my old PS 1 game in and play a bit. Well, about 100 A.D., the English snuck a city in between 2 of mine. I managed to goad them into a war and drive them out, thereby gaining control of the city. However, its borders are taking valuable resources from my other 2 cities since it's so close (especially my science/wonder city). Is there a way to destroy it completely? I tried building a bunch of settlers, but they kept getting disbanned, and I really have no place to move workers to hurt the food supply, since I had really built the area up for my other 2 cities.

Is there anything else I can do here or just leave it and hope it falls apart on its own?

Thanks and take care,

Jay

You're playing the PS1 version? I'm not sure if that has any different rules...

If you're playing on the Chieftain difficulty level there's no way to get rid of it.

If you're playing on a higher difficulty level, starve the city down to size 1 (by removing all workers) and then build a settler. You can remove the workers by opening the city screen and clicking on all tiles (except the city square itself) it is working. So even if you're playing on Chieftain and you can't disband the city, you can at least stop the city from taking away any resources from its surrounding cities.

Thanks,

I finally got the city destroyed by buying a ton of settlers. Then the English pulled the same stunt in another part of my kingdom. At least this time, the city was in the marsh, away from any major cities of mine, so I left it to starve itself out.

The weird part is that city ended up becomming one of the top resource city in my kingdom.

Oh, and I wiped out the English, and no one's given me those problems since.

Take care,

Jay

What if you transform the terrain of the city center square?
Change it to a forest maybe to get rid of the 2 food.

I haven't played civ2 for years, but in those days I used to transform a lot
of the terrain, especially the city main square. ;)
