I urgently ask each and one of you to have more respect for moderaters.

I second that, Ren. That is, I always start out respecting anyone I meet. In addition, there is the respect for the position regardless of the person, brought forth by the excellence of this site. :)
I think it is important to make that distinction. Most of the time the two coincide, but there are no guarantees.

People in charge will always be frowned upon by certain people. Moderator actions may not always suite all the whining of the posters, but their job is to maintain some sort of order around here, not keep everyone happy. Moderators don't need phillippe's lamish call to politeness. I really doubt that anyone would change their posting habits just because of it. There is though a much more powerfull tool - the ban.

Christ - what a brown nosing thread! If you dont show respect for them they ban you. Simple as that. What's the point of this?

I refuse.

This reminds me of when i was playing poker with a few friends. One guy kept winning all the time, so i said "You must be cheating" and he answered with "I don't have to cheat, im winning!"

We don't need no moderation... TF leave those kids alone!

IMHO, banning shouldn't be at a whim like that, Rodgers, it should be a last resort type of thing. Of course, respect should be mutual for everyone until someone shows they are undeserving of it, like constant banning, or insulting a moderator or something like that. Users and moderators deserve respect in kind, without mutual respect chaos will ensue.

Leave the moderation and bannings to the mods. ;)

Personally, I have respect for all posters (till they 'prove' they don't deserve it); more for those excellent posters and most for the mods since they actually volunteer for the job...

Unfortunately some mods give the others a bad name.

Well, the way I see it:

Moderators can loose some respect. Last thursday I had never heard of AoA. Friday I got banned by him for disagreeing with killer's ban. I did so in the site feedback forum....

This didn't exactly make me respect moderators more;)

AoA: Come back!!!
Be a moderator AND be the brilliant poster everyone is talking about!

Just change maybe two things:
1. Don't feel insulted too soon
2. And before banning someone, close your eyes and wait 10 seconds.

This could AND should be the solution INVHO.

Cheers,

Stapel

As I recall you got banned for the language you used to a moderator.

Other people didnt agree with Killer's ban but didnt get banned themeselves because they ahem moderated their language and presented their arguments in a reasoned way.
