I'd like to see a mythology mod

Wouldn't this be interesting? Instead of having civ political and historical correct, it could be filled up with myths, legends, miracles, saints, heroes, demons, dragons, dwarves, giants, gods in a timeperiod 1000BC to 1300AD. Christian, Norse, Egyptian, Greece/Roman, Chinese/Oriental, Hindu, Shamanic, African cultures-legends-myths-religions could be the civs.

Anyone wants to make it for me? :p :) I've just read some swedish/norse legends on wikipedia and it's really interesting with all the different myths and legends in the world. It would be exciting to play such a mod with fewer realworld boundaries than civ4 and learn about other cultures....

I have no intention of making this mod, just thought I'd make a wish :) . Perhaps someone's already thinking of making a mod like this?!

Yes, I've had a dream of doing something similar for Civ3 for a long time, and I have the same dream for Civ4. Whether it will ever evolve into more than a dream, I don't really dare say yet. :)

Wait for me! I want in on this. I can't design any graphics or anything, but I can be a beta tester and reference for you (that is, whoever is the lead designer). Now, if you are more requesting someone do it, I would like to take charge of it, as I once thought of doing it a long time ago, but I wasn't signed up to the forum and had (and still have) no clue on unit making.

I think it would be great, like a sort of war of the gods. There could be passive civs, I.E., mankind, and the aggressive civs that are gods. So they spread their religion and gain bonuses from controlling people. They can fight with their magical units, while mankind fights mankind. It would need to be heavy modded with core game elements revised.

So the "civs" would be gods, even of the same religion (like Ra versus Set in Egyptian mythology). Those gods spread their religions amongst mankind. The map could reflect a sort of old world view of it, from a Greek respective. I remember a request for a map like that a while back. It can't too accurate, it would take away from the theme of it. On the outside of it all would be a ring, the realm of the gods. So the Nordic gods would be up near Scandinavia, the Egyptian gods at the south of the world (the end of Africa would probably be cut off, not abrutly (sp?) but it wouldn't continue to its actual length). So the gods then come in on a young and developing mankind, and spread their religion. I assume it is possible to mod it so mankind can only fight mankind, but the gods can intervene (though it should be somehow difficult, like only weaker divine units can be transported by ship) so the gods mostly fight each other.

I am really excited about this, I hope I can be the creative driving force, making the rules and civs and everything. But I can't design any units or anything.

Sword of Geddon was planning something exactly like this for Civ3. He might have some ideas if you ask him. I also know of another mod planning something a little similar for Civ3, but I don't know how hush-hush that is right now!

It would be pretty cool to have one civ be the Norse mythology, one be based on Greek, etc. Is that what you had in mind?

Mythology mod would be great. Atlanteans could be a one civ as well.

I'd rather have a REAL mythological cvilization, not some fairy-story that plateo would never have known about if he had gone to bed when he was supposed to.
