Ideas for C2C

This looks like a return to vanilla in some ways. Is it really necessary to make these works rely on one culture? I have the feeling that this is totally against the spirit of C2C, which will become even more apparent when the present cultures are completely gone, as seems to be the (long-term) direction of the mod.

Another reason why this might not be a good idea is the fact that this system of great works can never be extended beyond our present era.
We are not moving away from cultures as world wonders (WW) afaik, but I agree that WW's should not require a resource only provided by another WW.
A WW could imo only be tied to cultures by reducing their cost if this or that culture resource is available.

The Xpunk cultures may be an exception though.

The Punk and Religion areas are supposed to have their own wonders both world and national. The areas are also supposed to be optional.

Cultures are not supposed to have World Wonders as it will make that Culture over powered. It may be OK for a National Wonder but only if the Culture has no heroes, unique units or unique Bonuses.

If the suggestion is that named Great People are the only ones that can build a given wonder, then it wont work. You can't be sure that that GP is ever born, or is born near where the wonder is and you can't (easily) stop them being selected when you choose to start a Golden Age with multiple GP.

The Draconian constitution is a bit too good (why does it give education and how much crime is this supposed to reduce?), the New Deal also seems to be too strong (enhancing production can be justified, most of the other boni are at least debatable, but it should certainly cost money), and The Prince is most likely satire, written by an author whose other works are very much in support of republics.

The Draconian constitution should be given a reasonable amount of crime reduction and probably be limited to a rather primitive civic, and the New Deal should be rather expensive in terms of maintenance, which seems to be the standard way of including interventionist policies.

That being said, most of the political wonders should probably be civic-restricted, and giving :espionage: should be justified by actually improving security.

I have trouble with this as a tech. Mostly because the idea that you can separate reality into different disciplines is a strange idea for most of history. This split is also very "Western" idea. Perhaps this may be better as a Science Civic or something.

I have now done the following techs and their buildings
  • Cryptography
  • Geocentrism
  • Heliocentrism
  • New Urbanism
  • and the following which fit in well with what I want to do with diplomacy
    • Negotiation
    • Diplomacy
    • Foreign Policy

I have a bit more to do on the diplomat side before I release it onto the SVN. The diplomats will show up in the pedia but you wont be able to build them yet. There is a lot of work needed before their missions will be available.
