I may have just done some first glance math, and it may just be me, but does it seem like Autocracy gains more Happiness with the structure tenets it has, compared to Freedom or Order? Please note that I did not include Universal Healthcare, since ALL THREE SHARE IT. The idea that Autocratic civs have the potential to be happier than Freedom or Order states seems a bit off, unless its to be interpreted like dictatorial states in history.

+8 from Fortified Borders for every city with each Defensive structure (2x4)
+6 from Militarism for every city with each Unit EXP structure (2x3)
+3 from Police State for every Courthouse built

Compared to Freedom with...

+3 from Capitalism for every Financial structure (1x3)
+4 from Urbanization for every Food structure (1x4)

or Order

+2 from Socialist Realism
+3-5 from Young Pioneers for every Production related structure (1x3/5)
+4 from Academy for every Science related structure after Libraries (1x4)

That's true. Both Order and Autocracy benefit Domination Victory, so it makes sense that they get lots of Happiness. It's the fuel of conquest*.

*Your mileage may vary in real life.

True. Considering how unhappy civs will get through conquest of others, it makes that much sense. I agree on that. Just an observation that made me feel like they're really trying to cover bases where they can with steamrolling.

It's difficult to compare. The buildings you get happiness for in Freedom are main buildings which you likely have in most of your cities (granary etc), since food is important. On the other hand you have autocracy which gives happiness for defensive and EXP structures. You won't have these buildings in most of your cities. And if you want to build them just for the reason of happiness, you could get some gold problems (at least for EXP structures).

And one more thing that hasn't been mentioned by you: Freedom gives you happiness for specialists.

Where are the "GIANT GOLD STATUE OF SELF", "AMAZON BRIGADE", and "INANE SPEECHES ABOUT PEPSI" tenants in Autocracy.

I want to run my empire like Gaddafi goddammit.

Yeah, I noticed this, too...

The courthouse happiness speaks against this but I think you're generally supposed to puppet conquered cities when you take Autocracy. Puppets prioritize defensive structures so you can get a lot of happiness without any investment there.

Resettlement could be useful when you are going for domination and find yourself lacking resources. You may find yourself without uranium and need to send a settler to that crappy two-tile snow island at the bottom of the map.

Would I care about the extra starting population ? No. I would just settle on the resource and forget about the city. The effect could be decent as part of an early (by which I mean Tradition or Liberty) social policy, but for a mid to late game ideology tenet it strikes me as utterly useless.

Okay.... who will actually pick this tenet?

Socialist Realism: +2 Local Happiness from Monuments. Build Monuments in half the usual time.

It could stack with some religous beliefs, but, yeah the half speed build is weird considering its the late game.

EDIT: actually on second thoughts it is a good happiness pick

Ethiopia. Wide, conquering "what is the spirit of adwa" Ethiopia.

+local happiness from monuments, monuments built in half usual time.

Ethiopia would dominate religiously and happinessly....

I think the point Glassmage is making is Ideologies are not until 3 factories or modern era. Map will already be filled and any conquered cities that need monuments won't have any issues getting them. It is like the half-build courthouses in the current autocracy tree--considered garbage by most since you will rush-purchase them at that point in the game anyway.

The extra happiness will be nice though.

I'm dissapointed that there's some repeat ideologies between them. They should all be completely unique.

Those repeat ideologies are probably placeholders they put in the review build because there were unresolved issues with the real tenets, or maybe the real tenets show some new mechanic they haven't mentioned yet.

The half build time on Monuments, combined with the Happiness, means that a Monument will be the first thing any Puppeted city builds, and it'll build it extremely quickly.

Yes, and it looks complimentary to Iron Curtain. Each ideology has different war-related bonus and Order seem to focus on rapid assimilation.

This one strikes me as almost as useless as Resettlement. OK, you essentially get +2 happiess per city, but it can't compete with Young Pioneers or Academy.
The only use I can see for Socialist Realism is taking it before/during a conquering spree, but if you're playing a peaceful game it really isn't worth it.

I think Resettlement would be a good social policy for Liberty or Tradition.
