Ideology Preference

Yep, cybrxkahn pretty much got the biggest argument here... I doubt ideologies are fixed, and in fact, now I hope so...

Like who?

I think it was sarcasm serah ;)

I apparently misunderstood the topic as "Ideology Preferences In Terms of Game Mechanics and Achieving Certain Types of Game Victories".

However it appeared to be "Ideology Preferences of Forum Members and What Ideologies They Think Certain Real Civilizations Do Deserve".

Keep going this thread, who knows, maybe it once may lead your favourable civilization to ideological victory in this world...

Yeh, I agree with cyberxkhan too. I really only compiled that list for my own amusement :p seeing an Order/Freedom Byzantium would be highly amusing.

BSPollux: Come on. You know that America is the most powerful and important free and democratic country in the world. The only reason you're questioning it is because its prominence means that the deficiencies (and I freely admit they have many, which the country mostly refuses to admit), it does have are thrown into greater relief, even when its failings are no worse than many other countries.

Seriously. A person, taling that one particular country is more democratic then other and blah, blah is definitely depicts himself colorfully enough. No need to say more

It was a joke. The real answer is that America is the self-proclaimed leader of the free world; we're an extremely idealist society in a very real world and we have a habit of pushing our values on other cultures by parking our military there in order to "maintain civil security and ensure the safety of the democratic process". The fact that we are by no means the most free or the most democratic major power in the world is basically irrelevant, nobody pushes their ideology on others quite as much as America.

When I say that we "saved" a nation from communism I'm thinking about places like Guatemala and the Middle East. And we all know how well that turned out for the locals.

Moderator Action: Please drop the discussion of what America's ideological preference would be. It's too historically and politically charged to possibly stay on topic.

I suspect that each civ is going to have a weight on each ideology, similar to how they currently weight different troop types and so on. This weighting would then be played off against the ingame situation. That would allow them to comfortably deal with civs like England, which has splashes of Order in amongst a predominantly free-leaning society, while also preventing everybody from knowing with certainty and in advance who is going to ally with whom.

Will City States chose Ideologies as well? That'd would another shake up to those relations (and I hope the text of city state elections would be phrased differently if they are under another ideology than Freedom...)

Now you can go and assign prefered ideology to each CS as well ;)
