If you have a hairy back is it rude NOT to shave it when you go to the beach?

I don't have a hairy back, but I have some mild hair on the backs of my arms that is visible from about 10 feet away.

People are grossed out about it for some reason, oh well, screw 'em.

Whats really gross is women that don't shave. Worse is when they flaunt it. Even worse is flaunting it knowingly.

Male, I though my comment on body hair spelled that out, or...

And I know women who can be make potato sack into a gown...
These things are there to enchance beauty, sorry but if I am deciding which girl is cute I don't go checkin their armpits.

of course you dont check.. but wouldnt you be repulsed if you suddenly found out she didnt shave?

I am somewhat repulsed by hairy forearms, but not armpits /shrug. Some guys call "beaver" any vaginal hair. Personal tastes vary.

I find myself in full agreement with Gladi. If people get grossed out by body hair, it is them who have a problem.

Have you ever shaved your back?!? It is very itchy and uncomfortable. So where would it stop to please your sensibilities? Unsightly birthmarks? Cleft palates? Extreme freckling? Birth defects? I am more worried (and weirded out) by some dude in a speedo than a middle aged guy with a hairy back. I am not at the beach to man watch anyway.

No...if I see a fruitcake with nipple rings and purple hair in leather out in public I pretty much laugh at them right along with the kids.

Being hariy is a sign of virility, hairless guys who formed the majority of the population feeling intimidated and inferior tries to convince the rest of the world that hairiness is actually a negative trait, and tries to convince the rest of the hairy population to hide their virility. Thats my take on the situation at least, can anyone here tell that im hairy :D

I agree; It is consistant with the pattern. Another example is the weak who tried to convince others that being weak is a good trait, thus enabling christianity to thrive.

However body hair have another special symbolic aspect. It is very ussual that they are seen as relative to the notion of the father. It is very ussual for a teen who has a bad relation with his father to have very negative emotions about body hair (since it is linked to the father).
In reality it is ludicrous to claim that body hair has a specific, non symbolic emotional weight. One claiming it does would be making the analogous mistake that ancient philosophers made when claiming that colour is a property of the object that has it, and it is being imposed on its observer. We know ofcourse now (since the 17th century to be exact) that light is not a property of the object, but the outcome of the rays of light that fall upon it, and then visualised in the mind of the observer. Likewise to claim that what one feels about body hair is innate in body hair would have meant that body hair impose some view of it, while having formed that ability to impose it by itself. In reality one's view of it is the result of symbolic understandings, and his world of thought.

Celebrate back hair! It's an expression of beauty and grace too seldom found on our beaches nowadays. Of course, people should be well groomed about it... I always keep my backhair neatly braided. (if female, consider wearing bows in your backhair)

That would explain the numerous Yetti sightings.

True story:

I went to a local high school to take my SAT. Some kids were being loud so I turned to see what the fuss was all about. When I turned, this girl in the group stretched her arms, and what do you know, she had a pair of armpit-fros. I jerked my body around in disgust causing me to spill some coffee on my brand new kicks! "Smooth" was all my friend said and I was really embarrassed to wipe all the coffee off my shoes in front of strangers. Ever since that day, I've grown a bitter distaste for girls who don't shave.

It's very simple, the only place hair should exist on a woman is the head. So please, shave! If you're not going to, then at least wear cloths that covers the hair! The girl I was talking about was wearing a sleeveless top too! WTH?

Somehow, I dont have back hair so I must be blessed to not have to worry about an unsightly back hair :D

I don't see a problem with not shaving. I personally groom my body. I have some back hair coming in, my butt is really hairy. Thats the worst. So grooming is a must for me. However, if I see some dude with hair all over his back, whatever. Some guys actually like chicks with hairy legs and pits... bleh. But some guys actually like it.

I don't see a real problem with this too much as it is us in our natural condition. If society deemed that hairy backs were "cool" then this would not be an issue. Back in the rennaissance times fat chicks were the shiz, I guess. And the super models of today were rejects. There fore high motabolism deemed you ugly. This is merely the a demonstration of the shallowness of society.

Well, this makes you think though, would you? Society has deemed the ideal woman to be at "ideal" weight. I gotta say though, I like a woman that has some meet on the bones. Not a whole lot but somewhere around "big boned".

Who gives a crap about other dude's back hair if you're a dude?

Society does not really define who we find attractive... It does, however, define what we may try to look like. How do I know that I don't like certain girls simply because everyone else likes them? Simple. In my earliest memories with girls in 1st grade, I was simply attracted to thinner girls. Don't tell me that watching Author on PBS brainwashed me into liking thinner girls
