Capture Dal and Chica, rush a rifle on one spot we can save from their rifles.
Establish a railnet westwards for the cannons we'll have to use against aztecs. They have a dirty amount of rifles ahead.

Capture Teotihuacan, some trenching going on in the north against their stacks to keep the high grounds.

Sorry that this is on a turn start, it's the It that burned me out.
Been trying to give it time and thought, but IA wars are not my thing.
Zulu have got a RoP with the Aztecs, so beware of their cavs - I saw at least 6 around. And btw, attacking the Zulu = war against India.

The Save

I wouldn't mind finishing them, but right now my head is exploding and I need advice on how to pull this off. Mass upgrades of muskets to rifles? Keep defensive positions for as long as possible until artillery comes about? I just don't know at this point.

i would try holing up for a few, let them smash against our cannons and defenders.

Let me throw a couple things out there. First and foremost- Some of the border towns in the west near India are empty and need garrisons. That's a serious item that needs immediate attention.

Towns that are at +40 shields need to be building rifles or cav only, except for the mil academy obviously. Other items:

Every 3-unit army needs a 4th cav added.
Tabriz needs a coal plant to get to 40 shields.
Hamadan's replacement needs a courthouse and maybe a police station to get to 40 uncorrupted shields.
Put a settler in Teotihuacan and raze and replace.

You may want to take the armies out of the north, run them back through Teotihuacan and attack the Aztec capital. Other than that I don't see they have a major power base. I'd raze any captured Aztec town. We need workers and want to avoid flip risk.

But the main concern now, that I know, is the Zulu attacking us. Garrisons in south indian border towns will be necessary, but that won't be enough. We're actually being dogpiled by everyone east of the atlantic, and that is, to the best of my knowledfge, bad.

SW is up but he can't have it before the week-end, leaving the spot free for you romeo.
 
O.K. Lacking any major objections I will take a gander at this tonight. Hopefully I can introduce some Butt Whooping of the first order.
 
Hmm. I couldn't get to this game. RL intervened way hard. I am now too tired to do this justice. I looked at the save hard, and we should be fine. Make more cavs.
 
pre turn - loads of railing. weaken some Aztecs, attack and the First Minister of Soul is born. immediately froming a 4 cav army.

IBT- English-Zulu Embargo hits us. as does a Greco-Roman one. the persian-Aztec one ends.
English-Greek alliance signed VS us.
we suffer MAJOR losses as seemingly endless cavs, MDIs, LBs and woodchucks are swarming over the Aztec border.
lose about 10-12 cavs, killing about 6-8.

this is going to a long set.

1- all towns are switched to military, except the core that keeps up the infra builds.
focous on strike forces.
Ravenna flips back to Rome costing us a spear.
Abandon a those 2 recent Aztec towns, as its doomed with 20 bogeys outdoors.

plan? let them pass the mountains and hit them on the plains. the major attack is from the north, where i have 4-5 full armies. south is weakened. flood reinfocements
pick off a few solitary unit with the armies and move back into hiding.
light losses.
rush a couple of cavs.

IBT- the persian-Aztec embargo resigned.
Mandalgovi FALLS. costing us a cannon, a musket and 12 workers.
germans want to talk?
Electricity in > Rep Parts in 14 at 100% and growing 18gpt (which just shows how many units ive lost here. :cry:

2- since we dont have a electric monopoly i sell it around for:
Babylon - 2200gold + 134gpt.
America - Espionage and WM.
India - 80g + 2 gpt.

retake Mandalgovi.
kill about 12 of that 20+ pile of Aztecs. using the armies.
use 2000g in rushing cavs and a rifle or two.
looking slightly better.
almost forgot to retake my workers back. almost :D.

these 2 turns took me 2.5 hours.
need a break, so i will continue tomorrow unless some one wants to pick it up.

there are 2 settlers ready to drop in place, somewhere. the combat settlers are still sleeping - i would capture some aztecans and raze to make room.
plan for aztecs - keep a fighting retreat startagem.
the english have a lone crusader about to take a town, with 2 cavs 1 tile short.
i would deal with germany and egypt for thier luxes.

and any advice would be heeded.

Wow great effort. How have the Zulu been ? Any badluck with them ?

My personnal reflex would be to make a lot of cannons for having a lot of artillery upgraded ASAP. Artillery could turn the tide very seriously. Immediately, well, we aren't quite there so I'll let the pros comment further.
 
For Extra evilness here is my evil plan to rule the world.
Step 1) Make a rifle army.
Step 2) Resettle Mandaglovi or whatever it was.
Step 3) Insert Rifle army there
Step 4) Watch insane amounts of Aztecs suicide themselves
Step 5) Cuss at AK for so many freaking wierd variants in 1 game.
 
I don't want to get any messages saying that we are holding our position. We're not holding anything. Let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly, and we're not interested in holding onto anything, except THE ENEMY. We're going to hold onto him by the nose, and we're going to kick him in the arse. We're going to knock the hell out of him all the time, and we're going to go through him... well you probably know the rest if you've seen the movie Patton. :lol:

Soul, please try to play at least 5 before I take it. You can certainly crank rifles out of the core in lieu of cav if you need to shore up the defenses. About 4 rifles in any threatened city will cause the AI to expend a lot of troops for a win. Then you can come back at them with the cav armies. Just be careful about the AI shooting through gaps and taking a lightly defended town.

Don't plan on a lot of cannon-artillery upgrades, it costs like 150 gold a pop.

And I wouldn't mind the variants so much had our creator not pulled a Houdini. :(

Just want to apologize to all for going AWOL. RL has been awful. Home computer died. Went on vacation. Learned home computer can't be resurrected. Good friend had a death in the family. The motivation is back. If you want me, let me know. otherwise, I'll just monitor. Sending firstborn and clones as tribute to all in apology. Sorry for the AWOL.
