Order of the Engineer
romeo is not able to play until midweek at the earliest.
This is my first look at this thread. Um, AK didn't mention in his introduction that I've never played an SG (just lurked), my usual play level is Regent, and I'm usually a builder, though I have won 2 AW games at low levels. I don't think even AK knows that I've never tried Commie, spying or mobilization or more than 8 civs at one time. I had about 70 cities just once.Admiral Kutzov said:I've recruited a sub. gmaharriet. she'll go after me.

dont be afraid. if i can do it, surely you cangmaharriet said:Admiral K is up and I'm on deck, I believe. I've read through the thread and looked at SW's save to get a general feel for what's going on. I'm thoroughly intimidated, but I'll give it a try when the save comes in.
My plan is to see how much I can get done in 48 hours, then stop to ask what the team wants. Maybe stop for questions even after 1 turn if I get confused. This is way bigger than anything I've attempted before, so it may take me a long time to play a single turn. I don't want to mess it up
Edited to add: AK may STILL be celebrating his birthday.![]()
Thank you, SW, for putting that in such clear, logical order. It should be very helpful.soul_warrior said:dont be afraid. if i can do it, surely you can
just go slow if youre not used to such empire sizes.
maybe these 12 simple steps:
check diplo to see who are our enemies.
scan for enemy units around the borders.
scan for friendly troops.
look for threats (enemy troops inbound).
decide on immediate objectives.
check the builds. build what you think is most beneficial.
MM towns for best results and happiness.
kill those enemies using the best assorted troops you can. get to know how many arties, assault and defense you have.
advance.
cycle for happy faces.
estimate next turns enemy moves.
cover your troops.
press enter.
no worries grama ponytailgmaharriet said:I know this isn't a training game, but I have an "idiot" question.![]()
I just re-read the last 4 pages to bring myself back up to speed a bit and I've noticed several mentions of disbanding a town. Um, what's the difference between razing and disbanding? I've read about building settler/workers to reduce population down to zero (never tried it). Is disbanding something else entirely? If so, how do you do it? If it is building settler/worker, how do you time it to happen without growth?
