ok we all know by now ( well, most of us do :P ) that the Illians are gonna get a worldspell in 0.34. this is awesome, now they're not yet fully fleshed, but at least they should be on par with the other civs, more or less. I can't wait to try that out. I'm really wondering if there is any plan to add the White Hand religion from AoI to FFH2... it would fit in great imho, maybe as part of a bigger mechanic like Auric Aulvin revealing to the world he is actually Mulcarn's reincarnation after some notable feat ( visiting the Letum Frigus could add Aggressive AND remove Agnostic ) and (re)founding the long-dead ice-loving religion in Erebus for it to spread and bring another source of despair to the lands, kinda opposed to hyborem and his burning fires ( "will the world end in fire or ice? " ;) ) , and tied to AoI features like blizzards, freezing lakes/sea and the like. this would make "ice" phase really look like ice :P

so is it just a dream cuz the religions are 7 and 7 it's gonna remain, or what? ;)

Probably a dream. Mostly because it's tough enough to balance seven religions and keep them all unique. Besides, the White Hand was never really worshipped by anyone other than the Illians - and a one-civ religion would be even harder to code and balance.

Not that it wouldn't be cool.

Slightly off-topic, is it intentional that Auric (and hence, Mulcarn) can never become "gooder" in alignment? I mean, he has agnostic, but that's a pretty new development, and only given to the Illians to fit their "we worship OUR god" philosophy. Will there be any non-religous way for them to be redeemed?

I think the Illians should get several temple-like UBs which represent the White Hand, and give benefits to icy and tundra filled lands.

What other detail Avahz Darkwood? :please:

I'm very interested in the Ilians. I'm sure their religion could be modeled with a UB(replaces Pagan Temple, I guess.) I can't wait until we get to play them.

Tying it to the unique feature isn't a good idea since it wouldn't be in every game. Having White Hand unique units for the priest techs would be pretty cool as long as Agnostic stays a trait. It's pretty fitting that the god of stasis will always be evil, even if he's the least evil god.

This one has occurred to me, too. It can't be entirely unintentional on Kael's part that there is no Hell version of Tundra and Snow terrains, effectively prevented Hell from spreading through winter lands. If you extended this kind of dichotomy to the civs, I think it would be very cool (pun not intended): The Illians, being worshippers of Stasis and Ice, can not be touched by the fires of Hell but can't freeze Hell over, either, thus creating two evil gods vying for control of the world who can't quite completely overwhelm eachother. Very dark fantasy. :)

Yeah, I imagine that the Illians will eventually get some priest-like units too to show their worship of Mulcarn. For a world spell, maybe they'll get some kind of worldwide blizzard that works like the End of Winter game option. Personally, I'm kind of rooting for a "Redemption" world spell that flips their alignment to Good / Neutral and changes a few units and buildings to reflect Mulcarn's re-assumption of his normal duties, at the cost of removing all your pre-existing divine units. What can I say? I'm a sap for happy endings...

Edit: Stop stealing my ideas before I can even think of them! ;)

lol had a song of ice and fire flashback ;)

Ayup. Probably Robert Frost, too:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Considering Sezereth made a really awesome model for Auric Ulvin i expect that their leader as for Mercurians and Infernals will have a greater role. Then perhaps some sort of ritual linked to Mulcarn.

I recall reading somewhere that it was mostly for scenario use, but perhaps I am wrong/that got changed. Either way would make me happy. :D

This poem is the most simplistically brilliant breakdown of Science vs. Religion in the history of literature. In my humble opinion anyway.

I think it's a Fnucking Tater, actually. ;P.

I'm not sure how you get science and religion out of that. Is Science Fire, and Religion Ice? Is one life and one death? I'm confused.

Man, what a bleak future for Erebus. "Either burn, or freeze... BWA-hahahahaha...."

Although, there probably is a tiny middle ground in between them, and that's where my Luichirp will live! Yay yay yay!
