Edit-Im pissed off....2050=GG OMG it better not automatically end in 2050...all the time i better be able to turn that off or im seriously retiring=/

I'm gonna mass so many Nukes and such right now=/....There is a way to give you unlimited time right?

also how can i bring my spaceship up and launch it...it's all finished but on the last piece it didnt give me the option to launch..

Edit: nevermind i cant win if im past 2050, guess thats why it wouldnt launch, and alos here is the last thing i saved before 2050

What the ??? happened to
"Put no more than 3 empty tiles between cities (CxxxC, where x is 'empty' tile) "
From this screeny:
- The cow near Salamanca is NOT going to be worked
- Not enough roads
- Not enough Irrigation
- If you create a mine on a tile (near salamanca for instance) road it as well!
- The colonies, do not create them. I never ever used colonies. Furthermore the get you Ivory which you allready have.
- You have 7 cities in 210ad and open land to spare!
- Tonawanda should have been 2 maybe even 3 south
- Niagara should have been 1W-1SW
- Grand river, Why go so far if you have room closer to settle on the river? (3 or 4 tiles S of its current position
- Wow an entire game in 1 evening....

You did a good job exploring! But keep your cities much closer that in that pic!

Meh in my replay or w/e my saved game, if you just take a look im just about out of space for everything ...like i have nothing but mines and irrigation railroads everywhere....so how do i keep my money coming if theres no where to build any mines/roads?

Also thanks for the advice nam, ill try to keep the citys tighter next time.

Edit: Why do other civs get tech so much faster than me, am i supposed to keep moving my slider for tech over?

Looking at your last saved game:

You need to irrigate more of the plains tiles. You should get your cities to size 20 at least. Especially the ones that can use the whole city radius.

You have ancient units in the modern age... upgrade or disband them and build modern units. All those warriors aren't gonna do you any good againt modern armor.

You need to build culture in your border cities.

The other civs are bigger than you and thus research better. Study the F8 screen. They also trade with each other every chance they get. You need to keep adjusting the sliders. The max research time is 40 turns, the min is 4.

This isn't a speed game. A standard map properly played should take more than one day. Study everything that is going on in your empire at the end of every turn before you continue to the next turn. Change your preferences to 'Always wait at end of turn'.

At some point earlier in the game you should have gone to war with america and/or aztecs so you could have taken over some of or all of thier cities. You would be that much bigger now if you had. More cities = good thing.

EDIT: what does 'meh' and 'w/e' mean?

meh is like a sigh and w/e=Whatever

I didn't think i was supposed to goto war till later, it might mess my reputation up and people might not want to ever help me....no?

Plus knowing me im sure america or aztecs would have kicked my butt.=/

Middle ages is usually a good time to go to war. Yes, you may get your butt kicked the first time but it is how you learn. The one thing you have going for you is you are playing chieftain level. The AI takes 2x as long to build anything than you do.

I could tell by the histographs (F8) that persia and zulu were at war early and persia wiped them out. That is what you need to learn to do.

Zulu declared war on me lol:P So i told persia to kill them=/ $ is powerful :D

Edit: Is there a way to make money when you run out of room, like everything was mine'd and roaded in like 2200AD, and i was just losing money....What does planting tree's do?

And also is there a way to take off the way you win....like i wanna be able to WIN after 2050ad

You can disable every win type EXCEPT for the 2050 "Histographic" win. Ha, sorry.

How could it possibly take over a day to play, i got there easily 6-7 hrs....wow....and how can you win jeesus=/ Especially on the hardest mode

Taking care of 40 or 60 cities and 50 or 70 workers.
On a huge map you can have hundreds of cities and workers.

When you go to war the micromanagement of the combat units takes time also.

Change your preferences to 'Always wait at end of turn'... that will slow you down a little and give you time to study what is going on.

How? By playing a couple of hours, then saving it, and loading it back up in a day or two when I get a chance to play again.

It was actually a fairly quick game: Regent level, tiny map, only three other opponents, but it turned out to be Archipelago (random setting) so some things took longer. I won in 2009AD with a Spaceship victory. I don't use auto-anything; no governors, no automated workers, etc.

I have played some Large-map games with lots of AIs for months at a time, with total playing time running to 100+ hrs.

You have to remember, Civ is a Strategy game. Fast action and quick reflexes aren't needed. Take time to *think* about what you are doing, and planning. ;)

I usually go for a spaceship win. A small map takes around 24 hours and a standard map about 40-45. Like Padma, nothing is automated. I can finish a small map game in a weekend if everyone leaves me alone. Standard maps take at least a week. I never try anything larger anymore.

I'm not in any special hurry...though I often wish I had time to try more different civs, larger maps, more varients and some of the modded games. If I could just find a way to quit my job and spend all my time civving...wheeeee!!! :D

I usually play my games under 10 hours. Once you get the hang of town micro and worker jobs, it gets really fast. Of course you can check every city every round, but that kinda cuts the fun out of it. Last solo game I completed was a 4CC SS on RaR Emperor (sorry for the abbreveations), and while RaR requires more time to play (more of EVERYTHING !), it took me 10 hours. Last solo C3C took me 7 hours total (COTM 13).

I micro my cities every once in a while, more often when they are getting improved by workers, or when the time comes for one major type of units: aka knights, cavs, tanks and MA. Then I try and micro them for less wasted shields (like 5, 6, 10 and 15 are optimal for horsemen production, whereas 8 is good but gives you a waste of 2 shields - shields that could have been used in another city). Some players are really really intense about that part.
