Image is nothing. Thirst is everything. Obey your thirst. Whatcha drinking now? Vol 2

Ugh re : thread title.

Really? You think image is more important than thirst?

I understand revulsion at advertising, I feel the same way, but I won't hesitate to borrow an appropriate turn of phrase even if its source is icky. I don't think it's going to make anyone drink Sprite.

I think it's actually wildly appropriate for this thread, beyond just making me giggle.

Coke zero.

Which ad is it a parody of? (i ignore ads)

It's not a parody at all, it's a straight-up ripoff of a Sprite tagline. They show some awesome crap with sexy people doing supercool things while drinking Sprite. Then they say "Image is nothing. Thirst is everything. Obey your thirst." Then they show you a refreshing-looking cold-looking can or bottle of Sprite. And then if you're a good consumer that cares about the American economy, you go buy three 12-packs of Sprite for $15.

(I see i havn't been missing anything int he ad world.) I would buy but I've never actually cared for Sprite. And to make this post legal- tap water for me.

Well, I made up the specifics (except the tagline), but that description covers 95% of beverage advertising so it's a safe enough bet that it's accurate.

I've got apple juice now.

Grape Juice because Alton Brown told my lady it was good for her. I neglected to stop by the liquor warehouse for some Shiraz. the night is ruined.

Cup of coffee. It might be a bad idea to drink at this hours (EST), but it helps to keep me alert while studying..

:twitch:

Coke zero.

Fair enough.

And WTH is the difference between Coke Zero & regular Diet Coke? Now with 3% less cancer risk?

I'm guessing the difference is a snazzy new ad campaign!

Peach Iced Tea yet again for me (I'm addicted to anything involving peach juice pretty much, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm).

Taste. Diet coke tastes like aspartame. Coke zero tastes a lot more like regular coke, and nothing like aspartame.

I ain't worried about no cancer, I'm an American, cancer is my God-given right.

I'm drinkin' water from a bottle right now. It came from my tap at home, and I carried it to work in a bottle. The tap water at work is yucky.

right now, some good old water with various microorganisms floating around in it.....

What a delicious beverage. Mine is filtered by the water machine that sits next to the coffee machine in the office. It also has a neat little temperature indicator so that I know I'm getting 41 F water. That's really important, for some reason.

AHA! I win! I stuck a thermometer in mine, and it's 37.5F!
