ImmacuNESIOTVIII: Pew Pew

His footsteps echoed hollowly through the great colony ships halls, giving a creepy haunted feel to the vessel, rather appropriate the admiral thought considering they were essentially a ship of ghosts twice over. Ghosts of the old world haunting the memories of the approach crew, and thousands of "ghosts" slumbering in the near-frozen near-death of the cryopods that were the last remains of their people.

The Sensor/Comm center was abuzz(relatively speaking) as he arrived.

"Report lieutenant"

"Sir, we have received final approach data from the target system. As expected it has one excellent habitable planet, and a couple of marginal possibilities. We've also begun to pickup comm traffic from other escapees. It seems we're a little late, but not too bad..."

The tone said something else was 'too bad'.

"However...?" The Admiral prompted.

"Sir, while a fairly extensive gate network has been constructed by the advance vessels it seems that the one assigned to our new home never arrived."

"What?" That was very bad indeed.

"Yes sir. Worse I've run simulations and with the rate that our drive system is deteriorating we won't be able to divert to our alternate destination"

The Admiral pondered grimly for a few moments.

"Very well, I'll have the Director revived and brief him myself then. continue approach procedures"

"Sir?"

The Lieutenant ask, obviously puzzled by the Admiral's lack of reaction to this devastating news.

"If there's nothing we can do about it then there's no point getting worked up over it son, we'll manage."

So if I have 1000 Industry in system 1, and 1000 Industry in system 2, the industry in system 1 isn't cumulative for an upgrade in System 2 unless it is moved from System 1 to System 2 correct?

What about Research? Is that just a total knowledge of your faction?

The Ensign

- "Alpha-one-actual, this is Highborne."
- "Carry through, Highborne."

The vee-shaped squadron of federal interceptors soared through the clear skies above the frontier zones of Polis Estmelin, their twin-electrothermal propulsion outlets roaring with such violence that is was causing the local population below to gaze upward with dumbfound interest. On each wing of the craft were multiple hatches, containing state-of-the-art smart missile ordnance and triple-linked thirty megawatt directed energy burst cannons.

The squadron's wing leader, James Marlano, designated; Alpha-one-actual, had recently received an official commendation from president Monroe himself, including a medal of service excellence after he and his wingmen had successfully tracked down and destroyed several transport vessels attempting to escape the planet with a sizable cell of notorious and cybernetically impure terrorists.

The Federation's 11th Interceptor Squadron, now nicknamed "Marlano's Raiders", had turned instrumental in curbing not only non-human efforts in New Earth's atmosphere, but also in bringing low multiple weapons smugglers and drug-runners that had attempted to make a profit on remnant old-Earth supplies.

- "Alpha-one-actual, you are mission-hot. Strike objectives marked on your heads-up display."

Several packets of information poured into Marlano's atmospherically-sealed helmet, revealing a series of names, faces, and lighted up several buildings below in red on the tactical screen. 'Warning, multiple enemy contact detected. Warning, multiple enemy contact detected.' proclaimed the helmet's integrated computer as the data was being patched through. Marlano effortlessly flicked a button on his right-side panel, disabling the warning.

- "Be advised, strike objectives are confirmed to contain impure, non-registered individuals. Repeat: objectives are containing impurity. Good hunting, raiders."
- "Copy that, Highborne. Raiders; moving in for attack run."

The air squadron made a hard left turn, distancing out from each other and moving into a free formation. Powerful hydraulics hissed and screamed as the interceptors deployed their weaponry; several racks of missiles and energy weapons deployed underneath the wings. On several of the interceptors' missiles were written hateful messages: 'Get sum, xenos!', 'Burn the impure!' and 'FRAKK the machine!' were some of them.

The raiders descended for optimal strike positioning, but were immediately met by several tracer lines of heavy gunfire from their objective buildings. The fire was immensely inaccurate, but a few lucky rounds made their mark, punching a hole through Marlano's right wing and forcing him to adjust his footing.

- "Alpha-one-seven, you're taking focused fire! Take evasive maneuvers, immediately."
- "Watch that shrapnel!"
- "Alpha-one-three, watch your spacing!"
- "Seven seconds til firing range; arming."

Marlano veered hard to the right to avoid a trail of incoming shrapnel. Amongst all the radio-chatter, he looked out of his canopy to the ground level below. He could see the chaos unfolding as large amounts of civilians were being evacuated to Estmelin's outskirts, and clashes between federal peacekeeping forces and the terrorist aggressors around the objective sites. He flicked the trigger-safety shield off, and armed his ordnance. Several red lights began flickering to life on his screen.

- "Weapons hot, weapons hot!"
- "Targets locked on; weapons free!"
- "Fox one!"

He squeezed the trigger, releasing his payload in unison with his squadron. The missiles spiraled forward at an almost instant mach seven speed, breaking the sound-barrier and punching through the target buildings, reducing them to piles of blackened rubble and fiery smoke as debris spews out in all directions from the detonation sites.

- "Highborne, Alpha-one-actual."
- "We hear you, Alpha-one."
- "Strike objectives terminated. Confirm."
- "Confirmed, Alpha-one. All targets terminated. Mission is a success. Return to base."
- "Copy that, Highborne. Returning."

The squadron broke off their assault and returned to formation as it went home to refuel and rearm. Marlano turned his head one last time to gaze upon the destruction with his high-optical camera feed. Zooming in, he was seeing peacekeeper troops moving through the rubble, and transporting the dead and the weapons and supplies they carried.

He could've sworn he saw children amongst the dead.

Correct.

Correct.

UNITED FEDERAL NETWORK

Federal Peacekeeper Corps investigate Local Hospital
Peacekeeper forces were deployed to Pangea's St. Immaculate public hospital earlier today to investigate an anonymous report on the staff having housed and treated several impure xeno-sympathizers whom had migrated from the frontier city of Polis Estmelin. Commander of the Pangean federal peacekeeping garrison; Johnathan Winters, stated that they had yet to find truth to the claim, but will remain on-site until a thorough investigation by the Federal Bureau for Human Purity & Internal Stability could take place.

Non-human Terrorist Cell eliminated by Vigilant New Earth Air Forces
Terror struck the loyal and unsuspecting citizens of Polis Estmelin today as the impure terrorist cell; "Freeminded", set up their operations south of the city's central commercial district and began to open fire on innocent bystanders. Brave peacekeeper troopers managed to contain the mindless violence caused by these terrorists, but it was the actions of the 11th Federal Air Squadron which turned the tide of the battle, and ensured a swift and decisive victory for the Federation. Clean-up and sterilization efforts are now in effect within the borders of the frontier city, as to ensure that no citizen has been contaminated by the late terrorists' ideological impurity, and xeno propaganda.

President Zachary D. Monroe Addresses the Nation
The President of The United Terran Federation addressed the citizens of New Earth from his private residence at north-side Pangea regarding the dangers posed by the growing terrorist organization; "The Refuge", stating that he and his office will "spare no expense in protecting the freedoms, purity and noble values of the proud citizenry of this glorious federation." Experts have speculated that this speech to the civil populace may have been as an explanation to the rapid growth and focus on the Federation Galactic Navy's standing forces.

Galactic Navy Command Reveals latest Exploration Intelligence
Fleet Admiral Maria Lyons of the Federation Galactic Navy, in co-operation with representatives of the Terran Foundation, revealed in a public hearing today the recently declassified exploration data piled up by the FGN Spirit of Vengeance during its investigation of Sol Invictus G. Initial scans have revealed that the series of moons found in proximity of the world were all devoid of life and a breathable atmosphere, but that the mineral rings of the planet showed interest for mining operations. Future expeditions will be made to Sol Invictus G to examine the planetary rings further.

More at eleven.

"For The Federation I would give My Life" - By Duncan Rayne, Proud Federation Citizen

"Courage, Duty, Honor!"

"We call upon our troopers, in this our darkest hour,
Our way of life is what we're fighting for,
The flag that flies above us, inspires us each day,
To give our very best, in every way!"

"It's a good day to die,
When you know the reasons why,
Citizens, we fight for what is right,
A noble sacrifice,
When duty calls, you pay the price,
For the Federation I will give my life!"

"Well all is fair in love and war,
That's what my gunny says:
You're not alive unless you're almost dyin',
These are the words I march by: Duty, Courage, Honor,
Every single day and I've been tryin'!"

"It's a good day to die,
When you know the reasons why,
Citizens, we fight for what is right,
A noble sacrifice,
When duty calls, you pay the price,
For the Federation I will give my life!"

(Courage, Duty, Honor!)

"The Eagle, he flies high above us,
The Eagle, he makes our spirit soar,
He gives me the strength to carry on,
To fight, and win this war!"

"It's a good day to die,
When you know the reasons why,
Citizens, we fight for what is right,"

Subterranean Habitat
Resource Cost: 400
Industry Cost: 100
Habitat Capacity: 40
Digging in and pressurizing tunnels and underground habitats. Food is grown in hydroponics and everything is recycled.
Build 1 on class F and K planets, or 2 on class G, H, and P planets. Subterranean and standard and thermal dome habitats compete with each other for these limits.

Thermal Dome Habitat
Tech: Pulsed Plasma
Resource Cost: 250
Industry Cost: 250
Habitat Capacity: 80
Provides breathable atmosphere at pressure when none exists under a reinforced nanofield Z shell. Importantly, the dome is highly insulated thermally and heated with fusion energy pulsed plasma. Life-support tends to be tightly regulated for maximal efficiency.
Build 2 on class I, 3 on class C, or 4 on class P planets.

So for habitat competition, does this mean that if you go for the heir teir habitat Thermal Dome, that if you build two Subterranean Habs you can only build 2 Thermal Domes? That seems like the "best option" to prevent weird ratios and make things easier to plan.

Does deconstruction take a full turn for the refund on the industry to be added to the bank? gut says yes, just want to confirm.

If one doesn't have enough resources on planet to run factories, can it be shipped over from another planet if cargo transport is available? Can we just say no for simplicity sakes?

So you can build 2 subterraneans at P-class planets, then come back later and build 2 more thermal domes when you get the pulsed plasma tech.

EDIT:

Dome Habitat
Tech: Nanofied Z radiation
Resource Cost: 200
Industry Cost: 200
Habitat Capacity: 80
Provides breathable atmosphere at pressure when none exists under a reinforced nanofield Z shell. Life-support tends to be tightly regulated for maximal efficiency.
Build 1 on a class C or D planets, or up to 2 on class F and K planets, and 3 on class G, H, and P planets. Subterranean and standard and thermal dome habitats compete with each other for these limits.

Then there's like 3 regular domes in there if you want. And they are cheaper than thermal domes and much bigger than subterranean habitats.

Does deconstruction take a full turn for the refund on the industry to be added to the bank? gut says yes, just want to confirm.
Nah- you can deconstruct and use the resources right away.

If one doesn't have enough resources on planet to run factories, can it be shipped over from another planet if cargo transport is available? Can we just say no for simplicity sakes?
You can move resources (and industry) within a solar system easily enough. I imagine factions would have their mines on resource rich/abundant planets/moons and their factories on resource poor/depleted planets/moons.

These habitats compete for space limits on planets. But the space limits are different for different habs. You can only build 2 Sub Terrain habs on a Class P world, but you can build 4 Thermal Habs on a Class P world.

So does that mean if you build 2 Sub Terrian Habs then you can only build 2 Thermal Habs?

UAS News Headlines

University of New Mecca Opens
In one of the most celebrated events on New Mecca, the University of New Mecca has officially expanded its facilities and opened up a new wing. The new Physics Lab plans to unlock the mysteries of our ancestors and reopen locked doors. The lab has expanded the smaller applied research section into a massive section detailing the lost technologies of our ancestors. Professor Zara has promised that the lab will “Bring us back from the “Dark Ages” and enter us into a new period of enlightenment”. This has been much received by the scientific community as they all look for new exciting ways to make life in this new region of space as close to Earth as possible.

UAS Reclaims the Skys over New Mecca
Spoiler :
airport-9.jpg

In keeping with the traditions of our ancestors, the UAS has pushed full force into the sky. During the budgetary cycle last year, the Primes approved the creation of New Mecca Spaceport. The design is similar to the Abu Dubai Spaceport in which the “Great Exodus” took place. The creation of the spaceport allows for heavy lift pioneer shuttles to be built to allow transport across the planet. In addition to increased logistics, the airfield also boosts planetary defenses by allowing for the creation of the vaunted S-90 Scimitar Fighter. These new air assets position the UAS to retake the skies of our planet and continue in the footsteps of our ancestors as we reach upward.

UAS Flagship, Mohammad Returns from Scouting Mission
In an effort to understand the new galaxy that we live in, the Primes have been very active in their goals to explore nearby star systems. The first goal was to explore the star system designated I11. The Mohammad made the jump to the system in the early part of the year and began to chart the massive star system. While the exact details are a closely guarded secret, the science division headed by Professor Zara has said that the system contains many ice moons and planets spread throughout the sector. Colonization of these planets is possible, but will take some work to be able to accomplish. Work that the University of New Mecca is quickly working on.

Colony to be Established on Helion F
Helion F was the target of a military expedition last year. General Kruger dispatched men and women of the newly minted 1st Expeditionary Force to Helion F early last year. The goal of their mission was simple, scout the planet and determine its viability for colonization. The mission was a total success and the 1st EF established a forward operating base off the Carrier Ship Kestrel. This base will serve as protection for colonization efforts planned for this year.

Given the make up of the planet, Nova Prime has decided to name the planet Qana. The planet has at least 1 zone suitable for an unsupported habitat. One that will be built in an "Oasis Zone” near the planet’s equator. The rest of the colonization efforts will have to take place under protect dome habitats, something that the University of New Mecca states that they will be working tirelessly to perfect. Plans for the planet also include a permeant military base as well as an applied science institute to study life on the “Ice World”. This research will allow for the Primes to better adapt future colonies to this time of environment.

I added a new tier two tech (graviton displacement) to allow for a new tier two power system and very light, very power hungry weapon system for ships.

Thanks to Lonely who pointed out the hole in the ship module list.

Hey,

KYSE Radio. Episode 01

"Time to lower the lights and crawl up to the radio. KYSE is on the air. This is Radio Lilly with the kisses in the dark." Lilly said seductively to the microphone and the darkened station. "Before that fun." She qued up the sounds of ancient Morse code. It was a joke for the youth groups studying Terran history. Made them feel special that they could claim they broke the code and knew the answer. Lilly turned it off. "Hope you all got that."

"Now for the pillow talk." she moved closer to the microphone. "It seems the Great Navy Logistical Division was given a harsh talkin to by the Emperor at his newly built mountain retreat. The Emperor has been pushing for expansion in space as the GNLD have been pushing for homeworld industry. Its rumored that the Emperor backed down giving into demands for homeworld expansion."

"I don't know why? The Emperor has a victory in Captain Pyrochev and his jump to T6 and planet Nurome (K)." she said cheerfully. "He has the victory with the colony on Fuyu and its advanced lab.." lilly lowered her voice and spoke in a sinister tone. "What is the Emperor thinking?"

"Let me hear from you few that know." she giggled. "I'll be back after this message from Tennessee TN Publishing."

I continue to want to progress the early turns quickly. So the deadline is Wednesday, July 1st, at noon EST.

If you are a new player and you want to be placed on the map for this turn, you need to get me your write-up posted publicly and starting spending e-mailed to me at immaculate.game(at)gmail(dot)com before Tuesday, June 30th, noon, EST.

The deadline is in ~3 hours for new submissions.

The deadline is in ~27 hours for everyone's orders.

I believe i have three order sets submitted so far.

The Director examined the planetary survey report with great care. There was no sign of the Forerunners in this system, but from the other factions comm traffic at least one group had made it.

Aside from Canberra itself the star system was relatively barren, A single barely-habitable moon was the only serious prospect for off-world expansion, and maybe the K-class one if they were desperate. That one moon though... the biologists were very excited at the prospect of true alien life.

The Geology teams were quite perplexed though, far too much of this system was very poor in mineral resources, almost as if it had already been harvested. The "Other" matter might shed some light on that, but the implications...

At least on Canberra itself matters were proceeding well; Phase 1 of the industrial buildup was well under way but now he faced a tough choice: Weather to stick to the original plan, even though it would mean a period of stagnation later, or to build seed-ships ahead of schedule at the cost of stalling domestic growth. Either would be a serious setback, and the Qeng Ho were already playing catchup, but there seemed to be no way around it.
