I think being in orbit only gives +1 sensors, though I can't find it right now.

"The Church of Jesus Christ Spartan was formed in the middle of the 21st Century in what was once known as Zimbabwe by a Pavlos Parma, medical aid worker and teacher. After his camp was attacked by guerrillas he started to train a local defense force to protect the camp and school he was teaching at. Unlike many self-defense groups this was composed of mostly women and girls ranging from barely teenagers to grandmothers due to the deficit of males. Focusing on defense and training the 'Women's Militia' was able to defeat local warlords and insure delivery of supplies and aid. While Parma would be criticized by many in the developed world, others praised his organization skills and forward thinking.

During the last third of the twenty first century Parma along with others established schools and medical centers throughout southern Africa. These schools were cheaper than traditional schools mainly by asking for donations locally and abroad. Combining paramilitary training with education and Christian Liberation theology, the groups soon received the nickname 'Spartans' for the military lifestyle and rank system used by the group. By 2110 the Church of Jesus Christ Spartan was incorporated by Brankica Paulis, a former member of the Croatian military who served on several UN Peacekeeping missions.
Colonel Aron Omri Virtanen, Historian, Church of Jesus Christ Spartan

Hey,

Nurse Meyung. Bombshell at the Nursery.

Civilian Nurse Klien Meyung stepped back with start. She didn't expect people in the Birthing Halls nursery let alone 3 white uniformed S.S. officers. She quickly gained her awareness and saluted right open hand on left breast.

"No need for that anymore Nurse Meyung." The big heroic looking officer in the middle said handing her a treenovel with a data card sticking from it. "You are now a member of the Space Navy's Gemini Lee Combat Medical Team. You will never have to salute again. You are above such things now."

"Great Odin!" she yelled quickly followed by the cries of the newborns. She escorted the officers from the room. "Gemini Lee?! The planet? I think you must be mistaken."

"No. Nurse Meyung." he looked at her disappointingly for showing her religion. A perfect smile soon replaced it. "Space Navy regulations state that all medical personal will be given leave of saluting." he turned to face her. "The data card has all your orders and please accept the treenovel as a gift from the Emperor's personal bodyguard Manamai. I'm sure you know who she is.'

"Yes, I know who she is." she took a deep breath. "I meant me going to Gemini Lee?"

"Yes Nurse Meyung. Straight to White Dwarf and its tidal locked world of Gemini Lee." he said taking her hand in his. "May I just say I envy you. The wondrous xspire you will have." he released her hand and give the best heroic salute her could muster. His guard doing the same. He stepped passed her down the long hallway of windows though which all the newborns could be seen and heard crying. His Shadow Service guard following a few feet behind him.

"What is your name officer?" she turned yelling over the noise.

He waved his hand in the air. All the newborns fell silent. "Captain Pyrochev." he lowered his arm. "I hope to have some time to discus that novel." He soon turn the corner and was gone.

The tools we build are naught but rabid animals, barely restrained by the shackles we impose upon them. Souless, if given the slightest chance, they would turn upon us, and consume our our worlds, our bodies, our very souls!

Only those with the right training can hope to contain it's taint, but even for the wisest, it's battle for thier very existence. All Pure-men owe them their thanks.

There is a garden of forking paths behind the palace. Roses grow there. Not normal roses, of course. The air and the soil are too wrong. Genehacked, however, they stand a chance. It may not be a life that they were meant to live, but it's a life.

Perhaps, in the end, that is all that matters.

Perhaps. I don't know. I have been thinking about this for a long time. All these planets and moon on this arm of the Galaxy--they could have had their own future. They could have developed their own life, if it wasn't for our automated fleets of terraformers and gene seeders. An endless wave of biodrones converting accomodate our terrified Earth lives.

When you place our own terrified lives, fleeing from our enemies, against countless hopeful futures of these planets and moons, which way does the scale tip?

Something that shall weigh upon our conscience. We have made our choices.

Did we? Our brain has been modified, as you may remember. It has been modified so extensively that our full capacity is unknown, even to us. Our thought process, our life, and our deaths are not our own to choose. So much rode upon us to make the right decision--and we couldn't let our sentimentality get in the way of making the best decision for the future.

What would my brother say, if he saw us like this?

He would say that there is no moral quandary. Sentimentality, morality, consciousness, all is necessary in making the best and correct decision.

Ha! You are right, of course. Whether he is right is another matter.

I for one do not believe in correct decisions. No such thing exists. We can only strive to make the best possible choice based upon the information available.

Frustrating, but yes, I agree. Perhaps, the day will come when I shall be able to say that without lying.

UAS News Headlines

CS-1 Makes major breakthrough
The UAS has built its first Norma Arm Based Satellite. The Nova Science Division has managed to unlock the secrets between string theory telescopes and have built the marvelous CS-1. The new satellite promises to shed light on many of the mysteries of our new home. Most importantly the Nova Science Division has found a sweet find in the Kessel System. An L-Class planet they have named, Providence, because of the extreme luck and timing in discovering it, promises to make itself the second major colony of the UAS.

Already plans have begun to colonize New Providence and a massive colonization effort has begun. Cyro-chambers on the ARC are being emptied as thousands of colonist prepare to make the jump over to New Providence. The new colony will likely serve as the main base for industrial operations in the sector. Most of the other planets appear to be poor choices for farming and agriculture, but the planets are still habitiable with our new Nano-Z tech. The Internal Directorate has stated that plans are in the works to turn the Kessel system into an industrial zone that will rival the Jupiter Ascendant mining belt back on Terra.

While not as lush or fertile as the Helion System, the Kessel system does offer one more important aspect. It is a Nexus that connects to at least 3 other known gates. What lies beyond those gates is a mystery, one that is extremely intriguing to the Primes. It is suggested that a link between the UAS home systems and that of our ancient ally and friend the Church of Jesus Christ Spartan exists. Reconnecting with them has become a matter of pride for Nova Prime as she seeks to foster greater connectivity between humans in this new system.

I will send orders tomorrow along with RP.

Transcript of communications from a small, hab-station above Crossroad

Repair technician Blair Torsel: “Well, sharte.”

Station Admin Kel Hetterain: “Yeah, ‘cause that’s definitely something you wanna hear from someone working on a fusion reactor.”

“What? Oh, no, my ‘Link dropped my connection to my music. Nothing to worry about, other than me getting bored without my tunes.”

“Well, we wouldn’t want the person repairing our main power system to go without her ancient ‘tunes’ and accidently pay attention to what she’s doing, no. That would be terrible.”

“Bah, I was apprenticing on anti-matter farms and solar-collection and transmission stations in near solar orbit back before. I barely even need to pay to this sort of wimpy power unit! Er… what way does part, eh, 249-BBQ fit into 791-WWL again?”

“Please tell me you're joking.”

“Sorry Kel, nope.”

“Sharte. Right, let me check the files. And… wait. 249-BBQ? That isn’t in the registry of this model of reactor. You sure that’s what it says?”

“Look, I know how to ready both ‘Links-Label and a written label. It clearly says 249-BBQ. Or, maybe –BBq?”

“What?”

“Look, just check your transcript, loser.”

“That’s not how parts labels work! You sure you know what you’re doing!?”

“Uh, yeah! I may be an egotist, but I’m not gonna lie about something like this! That’s how you get entire ships and habs dead! Just run a search for the part.”

“…”

“Well?”

“You are a complete and utter writche.”

“Well, how howdy-you-too.”

“That part is for an audio-node!”

“Well, sure.”

“An ancient one!”

“Yeah, I know that. Model year 2777. My lucky year. That was when my mum was born.”

“Why do you even have that part out there!?”

“What, you think I go anywhere without spare parts for my lucky ‘Player. Some of these parts wear out real quick when you try to run it outside of atmo. Air cooled, ya know.”

“Why are you playing with that rather than, ‘ya know’ fixing our reactor!”

“I don’t fix without my tunes. So, remind me of the alignment of those two parts, and I’ll get back to fixing your silly reactor.”

“… . I hate you so much.”

“You see anyone else here that can do this? Get remindin.”

“So, so much.”

Nova: I know call this meeting to order. The vote will be concerning the proposals on how to spend the next Standard Time Units resources. I will first hear from the Internal Affairs Ministry and their proposal for internal development.

Malek: Thank You Nova Prime. As you know we have finally found an L-Class Planet which will suit our needs for immediate relocation of the populace. Between what we have left on New Mecca and the colonies we can setup on New Providence, I believe our best bet would be to focus all of our efforts on this move. Therefore I propose the HomeFront Spending Initiative to complete this effort.

Nova: Thank you Minister Malek. Professor Zara, I believe that you and the science division have a different proposal?

Zara: Yes Ma'am, while it is true that developing New Providence along with additional facilities on Qana and Kessel will solve our population problems, it is ultimately to be very expensive. While there will need to be some spending on these projects, I request funds be diverted from the HSI to conduct the Pioneer project. This PP will allow us to explore a number of different systems which will allow us to expand our influence as well as find more planets, perhaps some better suited than New Providence for long-term habitation.

Malek: Yes, but building "The Link" will cost more than several new colonies combined. Plus your proposal requires a new ship to be built. A ship which, according to our analysis may have limited use... Plus going out beyond our immediate range is a huge risk.

Kruger: Actually I disagree, the Pioneer is actually more time effective than building Chern Imag Sats. Plus it is mobile, meaning the fleet doesn't have to take time away from its missions to lug it around. It is actually the perfect solution to our scouting problems. Plus it will make a great sensor picket for the fleet once it begins construction, freeing up our bigger ships for other areas.

Nova: I can see both of your points. I do agree that it is a risky move, but a risk that is necessary for the advancement of science. We could stay here, content in what we have found thus far and consolidate, OR we could get out there, explore find new things, perhaps far more interesting things... Our phyla has never turned away from a challenge or a chance to explore deeper reaches, if we had, we wouldn't be here today.

Zara: Yes that is quite true. I don't believe that limiting ourselves now would be wise. If the science and military divisions can agree on something, perhaps it's not a bad idea. HAHA

Kruger: HAHA agreed.

Malek: The only reason the military is going along with this modified measure is because the research makes room for exploration of the Trance Program. Something that was bathed in controversy as an affront to our religion.

Kruger: It was bathed in controversy by the more conservative members of our phyle, a true majority. If not for the success of the Trance Program we would have never become the breakout success we ended up being. It was the ultimate in unifying forces for our phyle and gave us the means to challenge those who would strike us down. And it we are to truly go forth and explore, there is the possibility that we may encounter those who seek to do us harm.

Nova: I see your point General and I have made my decision. Minister you will incorporate measures of the PP into your HSI. I expect these projects to be fully funded. It will slow down homeland development a tad yes, but if we find more valuable, easier to colonize planets, I think this immediate short-term investment will be worth it.

Malek: Yes Nova Prime. Your will be done.

Kruger/Zara: Thank You Nova Prime, your support is appreciated.

Nova: Good, don't let me down and don't make me regret this decision. Meeting adjourned....

Immac, what do you mean when you say that cargo ships can move industry to colonize a planet? You mean complexes (like Helium industrial complexes) or Industry as a resource? Also, can I use a cargo ship the same turn I build it?

I mean like industry/resources.

Yes.

- Jeroen Luxemburg, Director of Colonization

Mr. Jeroen has send a letter to the Big Boss Alexander Iwao:

To respected Big Boss,

Alexander Iwao,

Mr. Iwao, I have prepared two cargo ships to be send to colonize a nearby moon which has abundant resources, according to our last research. There is a need to transfer resources from Kyushu there in order to establish a colony. Workers should also be send to work as slaves for the establishment of vital buildings. This will be an experiment to see how well we can manage planetary colonization. If this is successful, we shall expand to other planets too.

By expanding to other planets and moons we can increase our industrial output and empower our commercial power. The colonization will be planned and directed by me personally. Once the colony is established, I shall send you an email with all the info you need about the colonization and how ready we are to expand on other planets too. Of course, the use of workers as slaves will be kept secret and once the colonization is complete, we shall ambush them and kill them all with machine guns in order to protect the company's public image and ensure that costumers continue to prefer our products.

With respect,

Jeroen Luxemburg, Director of Colonization

Remember Christos, that if you have a good clear trade route (ie- no neutral or enemy ships in the system), you can carry 10x your transport capacity in one turn. So colonizing most nearby planets can easily be done with one ship 99% of the time.

Dr. Zara walked into the lab followed closely by General Kruger. Zara took a seat behind her desk and loaded a program on her console. As the holographic display came to life it displayed the word LEGACY.

"You do know what this is right general?"

"Yes it is the genetic key to unlocking "The Faith"."

"Ugh I hate when you call it that. Yes there is a faith based component but that's not what trance is. Our faith simply brings us closer to the pure mental state that allows us to see all and be all simultaneously.

Kruger grumbled at the discounting of his faith. " Well either way I feel that both our families have a legacy to protect and unlock. That's why I backed your proposal."

"Really and it has nothing to do with expanding UAS military forces admin all industrial production going to Malek's work?" Quipped Zara with a smirk.

"I'd be lying if I didn't but I need more trance troopers especially if we are to hold against the space Nazis."

"That assumes they ever come this way. It looks like j10 might be innavigable. No reason to worry there"

"True better to be safe than sorry. Plus don't act like you're not excited about the Pioneer. That class of ship made our space exploration possible and it will do it again."

"I agree so it looks like we both got what we want. So how about we celebrate?" Tapping a console on her desk the door lock engaged and a bottle of wine appeared.

"Dear Dr. I do love how you think...." Stated Kruger with a devlish look on his face...

Great writing everyone.

Orders are due today at noon EST.

Hey,

The Ways of Empire.

The young girl slide behind the Emperor's back on the bed and looked over his naked shoulder. Laid out in front of him on the bed sheet was five objects. "What do we have here?"

The Emperor reached out touching the first of three thin file with his finger tips. "First operation Razor's Edge. Peaceful colonization of Gemini Lee."

The touched the second file. "Operation Chin Music. Twisted colonization of Gemini Lee."

"The third file would be the no colonization of the planet Gemini Lee?" said the young girl putting her arms around his neck.

"Operation Pitch Out. The one that I hoped would not come so soon." He reached up to touch her cheek with his opposite hand. "That one would be a S.S. relax nightmare. To much responsibility I say."

"And those two treenovels?" she said sliding back to lay on huge pillows. "O'Bannon and the Never Peace and?"

"And Bombshell Annabelle and the Ukabu Ika that Conquered Washington." he said while running his hands up over his face and through his long black hair. "One will be the end of a dream and the other will create a Empire of blood."

"Which will it be?" the young girl said sheepishly. "Nightmare or blood?"

The Emperor looked back over his shoulder with a wicked smile. "A good nightmare has its merits." He turned over and crawled up to look her eye to eye. "But I always liked the taste of blood."
