Immortal Incan Domination 2.08

Colossus in Tiwanaku. GL in your capital. If you could pull that off, you'd be in a nice position tech-wise. Although if you don't think you can get both on immortal, that is ok. In that case it would depend on how many coastal cities you think you'll have. Colossus is nice if you're financial.

Hehe that barb city was really a good gift. Seafood, cows and 3 furs in range (with 2 more with some border expansions) at the cost of one Quesha is just too good. Even if you won't work the furs it is still prime trading material that can net in 20-40 gold per turn if traded well. Good game so far and the pillaging of Qin is hilarious. I should do that more also. I am way too peacefull at start.

This is looking pretty good. Now you just need to put a city up by the rice in the north and then start gearing up for war. Take out China first, then Arabia after they clear the jungle for you.

That's the plan though the rice city may have to be put on hold for a bit. Too many cities could tank my economy.

Yeah, that could work but too many wonders would kill the war machine. I think I need to choose one or the other and since I have copper and several coastal cities, I'll probably go with the Colossus. Though I would be interested if someone did the math and figured out which wonder is more valuable over time.

The three mines I pillaged netted me about 35 gold. Not too shabby. I was only able to pop one hut and it was a map so I needed some extra cash.

I would have stayed at war longer but I want Mao to develop some cities around those gold mines for me.

Hard to say I guess. They're both good. Oracle will get you a Gp faster and get you herrule faster for the :) plus there's wine nearby. On the other hand colossus + financial makes all of your early coastal cities very profitable. Tough call...

Alex stops by to say hello and demand some ivory. I've already decided that Mao and Saladin will be my first victims so I will give in to any of Red Peter's and Alex's reasonable demands. They will be my trading partners and possibly war allies until it is time to destroy them.

I canceled the deal 10 turns later

Buddhist shrine comes online. Time to expand.

Alex is pretty far behind for immortal level.

Pick up some nice techs from Red Peter as well.

With hereditary rule happiness is not an issue, except during wartime, but health always is. I need the fish.

I finally get calender which means Mao's capital will be profitable for me.

civ4screenshot0027eu5.jpg

And away we go! Sorry, forgot to take a shot of the war declaration.

Industrious + copper so I'm in no danger of losing the Colossus if I want it. I can trade this away.

Looks like Mao paid off Saladin to declare on me which really sucks since it'll be hard to fight a two front war.

I took me a while to build some catapults to take Beijing. As you can see, they weren't optional.

I take Beijing with some serious losses.

I get peace with Mao so I can focus on Saladin. My plan is to take his two northern cities. He's removed some jungle.

Trading with Red Peter. He seems to be on a continent to the west.

Here's an aerial shot of my cities. 51 pop points at 200 BC.

Here's my capital city shot. No special tricks.

Tremendous play Pete, Can you give us a save of the starting position?, you started really fast, i'd want to see if i can duplicate that or else ask you how you did it. thx in advance.

Bwah, it always seems so simple when you read these things when it isn't. Impressive play again. Did you loose that whole stack on Beijing? I guess protective archers are tough nuts to crack then. Keep it up.

Protective archers are indeed tough. But protective LB are stack killers.
I once lost 4 catapults and 4 axes without killing a single LB (there was 2 of them in the city).
So :goodjob: taking beijing before the LB showed up.

Great play here...:goodjob:

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Stonehenge/Oracle combo ?

Sure, right after I finish posting the game.

Ok,thx. Taking monarchy of the oracle 1500 BC is a very powerful strategy. No more frantic searching of the map for happy resources. Really makes a difference in the early game. Also means you can whip units when city's at size 4 till infinity.

There are other players who make much better use of the whip than me. I usually only whip when war weariness has decimated a large city or when a new city comes out of revolt.

GPP is also a big weakness for me. I never have a GP farm. I usually rely on GP from my wonders.

Pete, your early game research is absolutely phenomenal and is where I struggle the most.

It boggles my mind that you were able to research construction yet still be able to research CoL by 200BC...

Would you be able to discuss your tech path and research strategy early on? It would help me a lot. Basically, how is it you were able to tech so quickly this game?

Thanks!

cottages + financial + oracle + big cities = :king:

Yes, but he took monarchy from oracle and was STILL able to get construction and CoL by 200BC

I think the big cities thing is what I'm missing...Need to work on more happiness...

There is not even many cottages if you ask from me but I guess financial do the trick. Not my favorite trait.

Why I posted this is why not to share the save files too?

Yes, but there could be alot more if you look at his capital and empire and Ollancaytombo is founded so early. I don't say he's cheating but he just make it looks so damn easy.
