Imperialism II PBEM

It's a 7zip file - did you unpack? You may need winzip or winrar.
Otherwise I'm at a complete loss as to what may be causing this issue. The file loads for me.

Come on, I'm not a total dummy. :)

I'm going to have to try a few versions of ToTPP.

Well, I started my own Imp2 hotseat game, saved my own hotseat game file, and reloaded, at it worked fine.

Which leaves me the only alternative that it must be a ToTPP issue. I think it might be a certain ToTPP patch I have ticked that is causing the conflict.

I wonder if it is due to the save file settings?

I have Save File Extensions checked for one thing

I checked the save patch, and I got it to load. Huzzah!

I had it unchecked, because it changed the save format when creating Imp2, and made old backup versions unusable.
But since this PBEM will be played in a specially-created directory, it should be fine. And now on with the game...!

German Imperial Report!

With the new Reich cabinet in place, sweeping changes have happened in Germany with the dawn of 1871.
*The new focus for the Reich will be science and maximizing trade to gain new capabilities and re-equip our armies.
*The meaningless military campaign in the Balkans is cancelled, and all troops recalled to Bohemia for re-assignment.
*All cities have cancelled pointless war projects and been directed to building trade units and economic improvements.
*Our South African allies have been reigned in, army units sent home, and new labour corps formed.
*New steam yachts are being laid down, to create the nucleus of a mighty merchant marine fleet.
*Any military units not needed will be disbanded and retrained into labour corps personnel.
*The city of Tsingtao will be handed to the Russian Empire, if she desires this location.

Pretty quiet, US troops licking their wounds after concerted campaign in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Awwwww! What kind of imperialist are you? :shake:

Glad you solved the issue.

Russia is grateful for the offer of Tsingtao. However, we do not wish to encroach on Japan's sphere and suggest that nation may be a better custodian.
The wisdom of the Northern Emperor is greatly appreciated!

But can't you read between the lines. He's just SUSPENDING his war campaign to research and build a highly advanced mechanized and aerial juggernaut, and THEN trounce everyone in a massive lightning war out of the blue! :P

Nervous laughter reverberates through the halls of Westminster Palace. They say the new Reichskanzler is either insane or too ambitious for mere mortals to comprehend. For Germany to rule from east to west will mean war with France and Russia, at the very least.

There is always the canal, but the Germans might take to building ships....

No news from the French empire.

Are there restrictions on where we can build infantry units? E.g. can I only build Voltigeurs in France?

@voltar
The French request permission to land an Mfg Goods at square (223,71) (Southwest of Columbia) for delivery to Atlanta on the following turn. (I asked this last turn, but didn't get a response, and I didn't want to block your railroad. The ship is still in the area.)

Just because Germany is not shooting at cowering natives and waving flags in distant lands, doesn't mean our plans are not far-reaching. :)

If Russia does not wish to expand in the East, what will the Japanese Emperor give us in return for this important staging point city?

The Meiji Emperor will consult with his Imperial Treasurer to be can be offered for the German Empire's magnanamoty (I'm sure I'm spelling that word wrong).

Instead of gold, in return for the city, Germany suggests an East/West alliance - To safeguard us both mutually from the rapacious Anglo-powers.

The Japanese will agree to that generous offer. Having distant allies will greatly benefit our growing Pacific ambitions.
