OOC: This whole idea of scientific research and essential development being traded like secret commodities is ridiculous, even in an IOT. Even if under a totalitarian state, we scientists would probably still hold mass conventions to share ideas like the hippies that we are.
OOC: we do need to establish such conferences. I would especially welcome a energy conference... for obvious reasons.
Back to IC...
I think it's worth noting that thorium is much more abundant than you all think. Rome certainly has enough of it to last a long time, but Platonic lands should have no shortage of it. It's the most common nuclear fuel on earth, after all. (Well, obviously excepting hydrogen

.)
The Platonic Republic will benefit from the Thorium mining industry, although we still conduct trading operations with Rome just for improved relations.
Why would algae require an oil refinery?
What you'd need instead are specialized algae processing facilities where the algae is subjected to high pressures and temperatures to remove water and isolate the energy-rich hydrocarbon compounds from the plant. That's really it.
Good point. We of the Platonic Republic will establish one in Thessaloniki.
We will also like to offer a energy research pact with your power to aid us both further.
the USA did, but the Emperor obviously wouldn't accept that. we are Romans. we are supposed to be on the top of nearly every aspect. its time we started trying.
Then may both the Platonics and Rome raise above their stations and be the great powers were are destined to be.
Ours will be set up in the Golcuk shipyards, near Nicaea. its heavily guarded location, and the fact that its already the primary Naval base of Old Turkey makes it ideal.
Excellent.
land based. its cheaper. we dont even know what planes run on nowadays.
...why would you have aircraft carriers without aircraft? That is like having guided bombs without bombers.
We Platonics have interest in hydrogen engines. Water can be the oil of today.
the civilian casualties should be less, this time. even if the entire city of tobruk turns into a militia again, its still best to take out the leaders, or bypass them. we really dont want to deal with massive deaths again.
We hope too.
OOC: although insurgent tactics have evolved in the latter 20th and early 21st century to try to avoid the "cut off the head" problem viva cells that can work independently from a centralized head...
very good, the Emperor will allow it.
With the consideration on specialized algae plants we may want to... look into those areas. Thessaloniki would be a better place to do such operations than Libya anyway... while Rome can have its facilities in Bulgaria as a way to help development there.
That said we will need to keep up security anyway; insurgents are not easy to contain and a attempt to "reclaim" Thessaloniki is always a risk.
i suppose we could. the Romans and the Platonians will, of course, cooperate for the sake of Energy security and independence.
Excellent.
Interesting.
Indonesian-Platonic relations are already quite cold.
We recommend, if the Platonic Republic wishes to cooperate with Indonesia,
The Platonic Rep. should begin gradual policy changes, instead of trying "other" methods
We would not lightly accept any covert actions by the Platonic Republic, or any other nations without Indonesian acknowledgement and acceptance
If you read on our talks you may have noticed a bit which we said we were focusing on our covert action to be set for anti-insurgent activity. The fact we declared it in public also executed any chance of design theft.
As for "gradual policy changes" we would like to see Indonesia conduct gradual education reforms, such as learning about Westphalia and the important of recognizing that domestic affairs are of the state, not outsiders.
Currently any cooperation policy is to work with any-nations; Rome is currently eligible, like most other nations. But two nations; the Japanese Empire and the Platonic Republic is ineligible for much cooperation. With the following reasons:
-Japan :
Cooperating with them might help their war effort which we do not support.
-Platonic Rep. :
The actions the Platonic Rep. took in justifying their ideology is unacceptable for Indonesia. Furthermore, despite all the condemnations received after the Platonic "liberation" in Thessaloniki, the Platonic Rep. decides to continue the practice in Libya.
Our ideology is committed to justice and ensuring the common good for all, while "democracy" promotes populism, idiocy and generally is badder than a bad tyranny, for at least the latter can be blamed on one person. Our system is based off moderation, bravery, wisdom and justice, while your system seems to be based off mindless popularity contest. Democracy is anarchy's first cousin and must hence be kept out of the orderly and civilized Platonic Republic! Rome has its head right with its decision to base power in a emperor. While it may... not be perfect it does promote wisdom and courage, two important virtues.
Our action in Thessaloniki were just. Are you saying the People's Militia were in the right to conduct their ill operations? We in current talks with Rome to talk with strategies to help annihilate the terrorist scum with less causalities (including the militants deluded with chaotic lies) and Cerberus will aid in eliminating insurgent targets.
Anyway; if Indonesia cannot let go of naivety by respecting our Westphalia right to restore order to our domestic nation then we will be best to ask other powers for the technological research.
Thessaloniki has been liberated; it will redevelop and be set for justice.
well then, the Roman Empire would like all of their research on algae fuel theory and practical knowledge of it, in exchange for the thorium counterparts.
Indonesia has lost it appears in its ideological efforts to keep energy technology out of classical hands. Rome's pragmatic way will benefit itself and the Platonic Republic. Glory to our friendship with Rome!
