This is my frist request : It's about governement.

I think it's a good way for a civ with one kind of government to be friend with another civ who got the same government.

For exemple, i play with Russian under communism and my ennemy is the uk under republic, but if uk turn to communism, uk become a friendly civ

I think that the propaganda from a civ could incite another civ to change governernment (a new diplomat or spy ability?).

More....training unit and develop guerilla movement to change a gov of another civ?

Good :) or bad :( ?

I think spying needs a big overhaul, but I like this idea ... govt types should take over as the 'friendly' modifier instead of culture group in modern age perhaps?

Also when a change of govt, shouldn't this chage everyones opinion of you new relationships are formed etc ... because you have a different govt means a diff outlook etc ...

very good idea!!!
but in civ4 we should be able to incite revolutions to change ONLY the government (or the ruler) and letting governmental system to be the same.

I like this idea. But the game ought to make civs of similar governments more cooperative towards one another, then, to make that kind of change beneficial.

aaaaa like it. wud be good to see a vietnam kinda situation on civ4 when civs join together to deal with communist threats :) maybe if there is a forced revolution the leader of the civ should change to a leader that was well known under the new goverment such as for russia: forced revolution to comm results in Lenin, forced revolution to demo results in Gorbachev (sp?) and so on. each new leader will have different opinions of other civs depending on their goverment

One best ideas that i've read here int his forum.

Imagine the war between the comunist and Democracy. Cold War!!!

hmmm ... but gotta make sure this doesn't turn into a Monarchy vs Despotism fight in the middle ages ...

but seriously, would be cool to have this, but how would this work in mulitplayer?

It's definitely a case with the "modern" governments -- Fascism, Communism, and Fundamentalism have all been targetted by Democracy in the past (and I guess vice versa).

PS: cold war isn't just the war between the USA and Russia. It's also a war without direct combat or striking each other. To me this would be a tremendous achievement in Civ, if it were possible, because all the espionage and meddling in foreign affairs have been the most interesting parts of the last 50 years of history.

I definatly think that civs with the same government would be friendly, but how about the favorite and shunned governments, that could play a part. (One slight bug, the civs that shunned despotism probably would have to change)

In the same way, Ithink that it would be cool to change adivisor head when governement change (in fact, like civ I). Maybe with real heads for exemple Germany under fascism, leader, of course adolf, foreign affair von ribbentrop, etc... and when this civ change gov, il change adivisor head Shröeder, Joska Fisher.....

i loved how the advisors of the opposing civ would make faces at you (in civ1) ...

Who would be the Communist, Fascist, Despotic, Feudalistic, or Monarchic leader for America?

Jimmy Carter?

Communist : Angela davis
Fascist : Joe Lieberman
Despotism : Arnold Swartzeneger
Feudalism : Eric the Red
Monarchy : Grace Kelly

Grosse biesse

I think The Walloon had a great idea. And I'm not saying this because he's a pal. ;) It would be very, very ,very funny turning America to communism :D

Now, now... the leader of the communist party would HAVE to be Bill Clinton

hmm, as to goverment changes, well I think the game should concentrate mostly on monarchy in the early ages and offer it more adventeges. also I'd really really like to see in each goverment some sort of arrivals for your own power if you play bad.

Let's say, in Monarchy you'll have the royal family awaiting to succeed you, in democary the senat and so on. My idea is that you will still have power, you will still play and in no point will you be overthrown, but your power will be limmited. let's say you won't be able to go to war with no cause of belli if you played bad and thuse suffered some lose of power. certian cities will not be able to produce armies from "pecificisam" for example. you won't be able to build settlers or workers if you suffer a real lose. you may lose power by losing in a war. being far behind in culture and so on. and here is another idea that hit me, you could always we able to kill your arrival (brother in monarchy and so on...) or try killing him but suffer great riots if not, maybe even civil wars. I mean taking this game one step forwards, creating the need to think of what are the consequences of your action to your own people....

p.s -Albow I love the picture of the early wheel unit in civ II :D
