Sorry, I have to get this off my chest.

In Sep 2019, Potato McWhisky created a fantastic video on Industrial Zone configurations.

However, I see too many people copying his "Megacity Industrial Zone Complex" placement, which was really not that well thought out. It made inefficient usage of the aqueduct adjacencies, and he had to throw in dams (which are restrictive) to boost up the numbers.

In his own words "It's hard to find the right spot, but once you find one, it's soo satisfying".

If you look at the picture below, the corrected version:
a) has the same number of specialist districts. And doesn't require you to put down bad campuses. Riverside markets are fine, but we don't want to waste campuses.
b) does not require any dams
c) is much easier to find on the map (all you need is an "double S-bend river segment" in any orientation, city placement locations, and absence of strategic/luxuries)
d) grants +27 adjacencies across 4 industrial zones (average 6.75 each) before multipliers. Production becomes is 4 x [Buildings] + 108 production across the 4 cities, once you have Guilds + Coal Power Plant

This whole picture he made just serves as a nice guideline, because you will usually not be able to build that complex because of terrain restrictions. Or you might fit it in, but it ruins nearby settling spaces.
Personally I just go for a 2 city setup in most cases for IZ's, because its so much easier to pull off and hardly costs you much in terms of adjacencies.
Good campus spots are in any way a bit overrated imo, as long as you just want to win and dont care about min maxing for a speedrun.
