Why should I have to move 40 units when it could be 10? Moving 40 units is boring yet I must build 40 units to beat the AI. I found the mass of mid-lategame units boring in Civ3 and in Civ4, I really hope that I dont find it in Civ5.

eh? you dont like throwing SoD's @ your nieghbors?

of course not it sucks. its simple mathematics: in fractions you wouldnt use 5/10 but instead 1/2.

I dont find unit cost an issue in the early-mid game, but in mid-late game cities are so productive that I have tens and tens and tens of the same units. I shouldnt need these large numbers because theyre only numbers yet they require much effort

I totally agree with you - decrease the amount of units we are using. I love playing huge maps, yet end up quitting the game at some point in modern ages because of the amount of units I am forced to move around.

Units are limited by resources, so you wont have a huge army. IIRC

The game was announced 2 weeks ago with no further information, how can you say this? Toft I agree in that I would like to play huge maps but the stacks are too big even on standard so I dont try. Stacks are not an issue on tiny maps but tiny maps are dull - I want more than 3 competitors.

There has been some information given about the game. The one resource per unit thing comes from a Danish magazine interview with the lead designer of the game, Jon Shafer. Furthermore, as far as is known, there will be a limit of one unit per tile, completely destroying the SOD and the problem you state in the OP. This again came from the interview with Jon Shafer.
