INES Ib: Novus Ortus

everyone but Scotland ;)

Well, I must admit, the situation for Scotland does look dire, but just think on what might happen if there is another betrayal...

In order to keep things simple, the total number of divisions is entered into the stat table, then that is divided by the army divisor from the top of the chart (now set at 10). If UU and irregulars are going to be counted differently, then I would need to add separate inputs for those (lots of trouble).

Alternatively, levies could be ignored for scoring and UU just counted at some multiple.

Here are some choices: 20 divisions , 6 UU and 16 levies could be entered:

as 20+9=29 (UUs counted x1.5 and irregulars ignored) 29/10=2.9
or 20+6+16=52 (as it is now) 52/10=5.2
or 20+6= 26 (ignoring irregulars and not counting UUs as special) 26/10=2.6
or 20+6+8=34 (UUs x1, Irr x.5) 34/10=3.4

My thinking was that army size was most significant in comparing nations and that special abilities of UUs may not be useful against some enemies. The extra cost of UUs also seemed like an offset to their abilities so a net value they seemed equal to regulars for stat purposes.

Hmm, my score is almost nothing. I assume I have to add in my stats.

EDIT: I'm 2.52

Looks good. I noticed one minor typo, (according to your analysis, England has an economy of 1 instead of 3 after the second update), and irregulars should probably be worth half of what regular divisions are, but that's all.

Iggy, you've been added to the summary tables and the graphs along with Sheep (Svearland).

England was set to 3 for economy this update.

I will shortly repost the file above, so you might want to download it again.

Here some Diplo

Alliance?

To Angkor
From: Delhi

Simhala has traitorously tried to claim the ancient Indian land of Bengal through unprovoked war and aggression. If you ally with them, you will draw the wrath of all India and bring destruction upon your nation.

We strongly suggest that you stay neutral in this dispute.

To the Unholy Celtic Empire
From the Greater Kingdom of Sverarland

We ask you again to withdraw (with full prior knowledge that you will reject) if you do not we will not be held accountable for what occurs next.

FROM: The Holy Celtic Empire
TO: The Mad King of Svearland

We note that your demand does not include any promise of peace. As such, we cannot consider it. We can, however, issue a peace proposal of our own.

Svearland withdraws from Norway. Norway is reestablished as an independent state.
Scania is ceded to Denmark.
Svearland recognizes the independence of Finnland.
The Svear church is reunited with the main church, and a full inquisition is conducted to exterminate any residual heretics.
You abdicate in favour of your son, and go into seclusion in the mountains.

You cannot win this war. We urge you to consider our offer. Your people urge you to consider our offer. Be reasonable.

We are being unreasonable. We will never sign your dictate.

Nor will you make a counter-offer. You won't even attempt to negotiate. We would be appalled, but we have come to expect no more from you.

OOC: I will strongly object to the calling of my nation Ankor (as opposed to the correct Angkor), both IC and OOC (such as in that nifty score graph  ). My primary reason for this is that the word 'ankor' in Swedish means 'ducks' (as in a flock of birds), whereas Angkor comes with no such silly connotations. :p ;)

No answer to any diplo yet, I haven't considered any implications yet, will get back on that.

Seems like Aegypt's on the path to dominating my NES yet again.

It will be a very difficult path, however. ;)

We will not agree to the independence of Norway lest Viking raids occur straight away of which England was not the only sufferer.
Scania is territory of Svearland and shall remain so
The Svear Church would return to the main Church (negotiations on this were underway before your invasion and have continued although your invasion makes their successful conclusion unlikely) but we will not allow an inquistion as all people of Svearland are true to the Trinity.
The King will never abdicate.

These our stances, if you can accept these then this senseless war may not have to continue. If you continue it however you will be seen as nothing but the warmonger you have always been.

Futhermore although we may return to your Church we will never accept Celtic protection and the Svear Church while in Union with the Celtic will have the King of Svearland as its protector in Svearland. This will end the major issue of contention between Svearland and the Church.

Sorry, been internet-less for a while but I'm back now. If anyone had any unanswered diplo aimed at me, lemme know, but a brief scan says there wasn't any. Nobody loves Byzantium :( :p

We will personally guarantee that Norway will not raid any of its neighbors. Norway would not be so foolish as to risk its existence again.
Scania is payment for your war-mongering and heresy.
If all your people are true to the Trinity, you have nothing to fear from an inquisition.
The king will abdicate, or the king will meet a heretic's death.

You are not fit to protect anything. You have been excommunicated. You may not even set foot in a church, so protecting a church is ludicrous. Even if you had not been excommunicated, you have churchmen killed, rendering claims of protection absurd.

3/19 orders in. 48 hours until deadline.

And for various reasons you will soon learn, the plot thickens...

Woop woop! 48 hours, you say? 10PM my time, wednesdays. Good to remember. When is the update to arrive?

Typicaly, updates arrive a day and a half after the deadline.

Imago, what is your preference, one of the above or something else? I will adjust the scoring model to your liking.
