INES II: Gone is the Old Guard

Still need FEAR's orders...

Anyway, I've made good progress on what orders I have, I've thought of a good way to do psuedo-awards, and I was thinking about how to make running the game more efficient. If this continues, would any of you guys have a problem with sending orders via email to a Gmail account set up for the game? The need to review old orders means I have to save everything to my hard drive, since I run through 120-160 PMs each turn. Taking advantage of Gmail's huge storage would remove that problem. Also, if this game continues, I would compress tech into one stat line, removing the levels and replacing them with net sums invested in each category. This means we would easily get into the double digits, but it's easier number crunching. Problems with that? Other thoughts on how to make the game easier on my end? Last minute pre-update stories?

The Deadline of Doom is NOT here yet, but it will be soon.

I'd physically carry my orders over burning coals if it mean the NES could continue.

Tech ineviatably is who has spent more wins, so a stat simply stating how much has been spent would work (perhaps you should work out a list of what level you expect some inventions to be?)

Hopefully a story to come..

Thanks and good idea, though I'd need to know what sort of crazy sci-fi things people wanted before I could make up any such list.

New thought: In rules version 2.0, with limited exceptions for nations managing research on the side, countries in tech groups would have only one set of technology numbers. So, if your nation was part of a tech group, your tech stat line would probably say 'See Eastern/DFI-NADTA/Whatever Fund.' This would probably make more sense for everybody, since there's been a lot of confusion about tech levels throughout the game.

Yeah, that would be fine..

As for the fantasy techs.. im at a bit of a loss.. we are still in the past in game.. i don't think we should have advanced as much as we have already imo.. erm. Yeah, let someone else weigh in on this.

My standing position on the way advanced stuff is that all the lack of research into nuclear weapons had to shift research around and make other fields easier to develop. However, as long as we keep what we already have, I'm open to having as realistic a tech progression as possible. Hopefully someone playing or lurking will be able to help me figure out what a 'realistic tech progression' in this setting might be. INES IIb should play somewhat different than our current version.

Eh. I'm liking that idea less and less. I think too many things will be left unsettled after this update, though I'll probably do the BT if most players want one.

Nooo! we need at least three more normal updates IMO.

An then, why rush? i'm sure the world will still be an interesting place!

I think that if this comes back over the summer with revamped rules and a new thread, it will feel enough like a new NES that we'll be able to continue with one year turns for quite some time. Of course, the need or lack of need for a jump relates to what happens in this coming update.

If you don't mind.. whats going to get you busy over the next few months?

College! Things to study, people to see, other random stuff that comes with the whole deal.

Meh, college is my slack time. weekends are free to write update ;)

To ASEAN
congrats you got your wish I'm currently going to kill every living thing on the Island and send the severed heads of your citizens to your capital by barge.

sincerly yours, Pakistan

to ASEAN

1) They where not from Arabia. Most of them where natives that where doing their jobs.

2) Indonesians, RISE AGAINT THE INFIEDEL!

3) You know, if you play one more tape, we will burn you capital as an offering to Allah.

If you fear our words so much, then you will lie trembling when you face our armies. If you must kill innocent civilians to make yourself feel secure, then do so. But doing so will not make yoursleves secure, and for every hair you harm on the head of a citizen of ASEAN, ten of your soldiers will die, who we otherwise would have spared. You may burn down our capital, but the patriotic fire will only burn brighter in the hearts of every man, women, and child of the nation.

And we ask you to provide proof of Moroccan and Pakistani terrorism in China?
Although we never claimed Morocco has commited terrorism in Asia, we could easily list your crimes elsewhere. As for Pakistan, we have undeniable proof that Pakistan agents, connected with missionary efforts in China in 2002, forcibly converted hundreds in the Chengdu area to Islam, killing those who resisted. We also hold proof that Pakistani backed terrorists were responsible for the attacks on the Kra Isthumus Canal and the Adanan Tunnel, which cost the lives of over a hundred civilians.

We also laugh at the fact that both Arabia and Pakistan consider themselves mighty warriors, yet both lost a division worth of men last year, taking land that was defended only by policemen and a few hastily drawn up militia.

OOC: I wouldn't mind sending orders by email or any other changes you would make if it meant that this NES would be revived. Also, I agree that a BT would not likely work, unless World War 3 managed to end this turn.

Deadline. Of. Doom. No more orders will be accepted. Six pages of update done. It should be posted today.

w00p w00p!
