What you can do is modify the map with IGE, then save your game as a scenario (through the regular save game window, as I previously explained : exit IGE, open game menu, save, look for the checkbox to save as a scenario). The created scenario will retain the map and, I think, the civilizations, units, objectives, rules, techs advancements, etc. And you can then play that scenario or modify it in the world builder application. You do not need IGE to play that scenario, just as you don't need IGE to play a game previously modified by IGE (IGE is not tied to your savegames).

However, civ5 does not expose any feature for mods to change scenarios' settings. So there is no specific options for scenarios in IGE and there cannot be any one. The only connexion between IGE and scenarios is that any regular game can be saved as a scenario ; this is a standard civ5 feature, not an IGE one. And the fact that you don't need IGE to load a game or scenario modified by IGE.

Hope I've been clear enough and answered your questions. From what I understood, you should be able to achieve what you want to do. :)

Big thanks !

You have very well explained, in my mind it wasn't clear how to do :goodjob:

I was using your IGE on a game modded with the latest version of Civilization Nights, buit after turn 100 or so it no longer loaded when I started Civ 5. I did delete all older version and the Civ 5 cache. Any idea how to fix this?

Hello, Dr Strangelove, you probably updated IGE before you restarted civ5. You just need to manually reselect IGE in the mods list.
Actually I've found in the past that I've needed to manually reselect IGE everytime I restart Civ 5 or it wouldn't load. I had been using version 20 with no trouble when I first encountered this problem. When the problem began I tried updating to version 21, deleting old copies of IGE and clearing out the game cache, but IGE still refuses to load with the game at this point.

First of all, I want to be sure about what we're talking about...
* You go to "mods", then to the mods selection list, check that IGE is selected, go back once, load a game. Correct ?
* Then, the game is started and you don't see IGE on the top right ? Correct ?

Did you try to disable all the other mods ?

The game I'm playing used the Civilization Nights and Ice Breaker mods as well as IGE. For the first hundred turns or so I had no problem with IGE loading when I started a game, but every time I started I would have to go to the "Mods" section and find IGE. The round button by IGE would be lit up and "checked", but in order to make sure that IGE woiuld load upon starting the game I would have to click the button to disable then click again to re-enable. After somewhere around turn 100 this no longer worked. One thing I haven't tried is disabling the other two mods on starting up, I will try that.

Hope this isn't too noob a question - I searched the thread, but couldn't seem to hit the right search string parameters - sorry if this is a repeat... Is there a way to change the aggression stance of AI civilizations in IGE? Or does that need to be done in the .lua somewhere? I'd like to make the AI civs and the barbarians hate me and wage constant war with raging barbarians.

Hello and welcome on CivFanatics. :)

Unfortunately, no, there is no way to do that : all the IA stuff is managed on the C++ level (the closed-source core libraries) and as a result Firaxis didn't bother to expose any API to control that from the LUA level. The best you can do is provoke some hostile actions in order to make them hate you. Or create an alliance where everyone is against you but they won't attack each other then. Finally, regarding the leaders' traits (behavior and such), if I remember correctly they can only be modified before a game is started, not after that.

Thanks. That's a shame, editing after game start would be a nice feature. Otherwise, having a lot of fun with the IGE.

Hi. I want to know if this mod allows you to disable fog of war or just lets you create maps with fog tiles that has not fog of war?

And is it compatible with Mac?

Hello Rolanddes.

a) It is compatible with macs.
b) You can disable the fog of war for any civilization: look at the "reveal map" option on the players' panel (it is equivalent to the debug mode and you may have to enable the debugging mode support in the ini files if my memories are correct, just test without it first). However, the game still won't show all units over the map, it seems like it only extends your field of view. I am not totally sure, I didn't conduct extensive testing, it was just something I seemed to notice once. If I am right, it's probably some built-in optimization within the game engine. However, I may just have been hallucinating.

Thanks man, I'm gonna try that. But what do you mean by players' panel? Is it a facility of the game options itself or a menu of your mod?..

Thanks. I'll try your mod then. But also, is there anyway that you're aware of that lets you see the whole map with the civilizations on it? Like the marco polo cheat in Age of Empire. I really would like to play with an exposed map.

I searched the web and it seems there's a cheat that lets you do that. But even if I enable debug model in the ini file, the tilde key does not work. (I tried that in Mac and bootcamped windows) I even tried Alt + N which is the tilde key equivelant in Mac.

Anyway thanks again..

This is also what the "reveal map" feature on the players panel does. :)
Remembering the key for the debug mode, on Windows it also depends on your country. If I remember correctly I had to use something like alt + ^. Aside from trying many different shortcuts, I cannot help you further. However, with IGE, you shouldn't need the debug panel itself, just enabling the debug mode as you did should be enough.

@rolanddes

Running the Mac version in OS X Lion, I can enable Debug mode in the config.ini file and press tilde to see the Debug Control Panel. It works, and the control panel includes a "Reveal All" command to remove the FOW. On my Mac keyboard, tilde is a shifted back-tick, next to the Z key.

I don't run Bootcamp, so I don't know whether this would work the same, but I do run Windows XP in Parallels. In the PC version in Parallels, the tilde key doesn't work, but I can use Shift-" to open the debug panel instead. Reveal All works there as well.

Hope this helps. We have a Mac Civ5 forum where you may be able to find people who can help with Mac-specific questions.
