Ingame Editor

Running into a small but odd issue with IGE now. Whenever I open the IGE menu the game switches to my desktop. No crash, I can just switch back to the game and it will work fine, including IGE. This is running the latest version, however a sligtly older version of IGE (I think v28?) did not have this issue.

Not sure if you can do much about it, since this same behaviour happens whenever I try to delete a savegame ingame.

@wqdsqsa
Oh my... The recent versions of civ5 are really full of surprise. :D
Thank you for the report but, indeed, if it's caused by files deletion, there is nothing I can do without breaking the autosave feature. So I suggest you just disable that feature (right-click the IGE label to open options).

Hello,

Love the mod! One thing, though. I recently upgraded to v29 of IGE, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm currently playing without G&K. I tried running it with no other mods in the game but it gives me the same error.

I also tried clearing the cache, still no dice. I tried going back to the old version I had installed (v20, I think?) and it worked fine. I just saw one of my friends with the newest version, and it seemed to have some nifty new features.

Hello Aroen.

I guess you either use a pirate version, or you told Steam to not keep your game up-to-date because this function is available with and without G&K. While I do not plan to do everything possible to support those obsolete versions, there is a change I was planning to do for other reasons(*) that may help, I will release a beta here in a few hours, I suggest you give a try. Nevertheless, I suggest you rather "find" a more recent version. Or buy it, this would save you troubles like that.

(*) Today, IGE includes some functions from ToolTipInfo.lua because some mods used to remove them (they had their own mechanics for tool tips and therefore thought they could just remove that). But some mods modify those functions to display informations specific to their mods and it would be better in such cases if IGE was using those modified versions (which incidentally includes the older versions of those functions that do not rely on GetPolicyBuildingClass for Aroen). So I will only redefine those functions if they are missing.

Here is the v30 beta. Not much changes, mostly code clean up. It should also fix Aroen's problem and improve mods support since default tool tips (rather than IGE ones) will be used unless they do not exist anymore. Finally, ID and Type are now displayed on the tool tips for techs, policies, resources, etc, along with the coordinates on hexes' tool tips.

I'm not to sure why, but I can't get IGE to load in Steam for the life of me.:confused:
I've flushed the cache, reinstalled via instructions, no other mods running and it's legal heh. I'm seeing zero error messages as well. But looking in the lua file, I am seeing errors; but I have no idea if there connected. (Using Windows 7 encase that's needed)

Hello.

No, your lua log does not show any error and it also proves that IGE was not loaded. If Seam refuses to send you IGE after you followed the instructions to repair the install, just manually install it from the latest archive on the first post. You will also find installation and usage section, I suggest you read it carefully if IGE still refuses to load. Now all of that are not IGE specific, this a general Steam/Civ5 problem.

Alright, thanks a ton, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Sounds like steam it's a pain in the butt for ya though lol.

Well, on one side it's much better than the old browser but on the other side, yes, it's a pain also, Valve is incredibly slow to fix bugs and improve it, I guess they're too busy turning it into a social network to milk cash from out personal data.

I agree.. it is better than the old browser, and Valve is very slow to fix the bugs. >_< lol
As for the fix attempt, I tried v29.1 and followed the instructions but still it isn't showing. :/ Same for v30.
Here are the screen shots showing I attempted to load but still not showing. I get the feeling Steam doesn't want me to use IGE. :(

No, Steam has nothing to do with your problem: on your second screenshot, IGE is clearly loaded. On that same screen, you clicked "single player" (on top) and not "back", did you?

Thanks, but I finally got it working on a third attempt of going through all the steps with v30. Not sure if it was an odd bug or what, but it worked that time (Woohoo!). Again thanks!:goodjob:

Hey Don i got something for you to look at...
This is kinda interesting.

...I will fix that...

Wait, that isn't by design? It's been that way since the first release.

In fact, it'd be real helpful if you could expand the unit list to include all of the different unit artstyles (which in the vanilla game only includes the settler) now that third party mods can use that system. See, e.g., R.E.D. Modpack.

EDIT: This uses the Civilizations table "ArtStyleSuffix" entry to reference additional ArtDefines without adding new units to the Units table.

You misunderstood the problem. ;)
Look at the warriors on Mars83's screenshot: the top (white) unit for England should be the warrior but instead it's the Brute. This is the problem.

I never thought about that but it sounds interesting. Now I think I would not insert those variations right in the main list but rather add a new side list, or a combobox on the top, where you could choose a variation art after you selected the unit.

Your welcome.
I tried other civs to see i had the same and no change on the unit list.

Hi dear DonQuiche!

I just made russian (RU_RU) translation of IGE v29 as you told here.
Well tested, fixed and tested again. Super playable and awesome!
Example screenshot.
From Soviet Russia with love!
Spoiler :
For some reason I can't upload .xml file here, so catch .rar (with thousands of deadly viruses, of coarse :D)!

AND ALSO!!! In v30 there will be any differences to translators?

Hello Zodiak, those are great news, thank you very much! :D
Russian is the second most-spoken language among Steam users so I am sure your addition will please a lot of people.

Regarding v30, so far I didn't add or modify any text key. By the way, you probably noticed a "changes.txt" file in the Localization folder. I use it to keep track of the new features and bugfixes, and also of the text keys added or modified that have not been translated in every language yet. Or you can use a program such as WinDiff instead: keep a copy of the old en_us.xml, then compare it with the new version, WinDiff will emphasize the differences.

PS: Kisses and viruses, you know how to make a splendid entry on CivFanatics. ;)
