My new Civ IV mod needs SDK owrk, so I logicly decided that I must learn SDK. Following the instructions of the Modki, I got as far as "Download and install the Microsoft Platform SDK", which links to this file. When I tried to run the executable, though, my system gave me this error.
Error: Setup was started in a non-native or WoW environment.

Please run the setup package that is appropriate for your operating system installation.

Anyone know what happened, or, more importantly, how to fix it?

I have the same problem. I have no idea what to do. I guess because we are using a 2010 operatinog system and the the SDK is 2003 it is not compatible. I tried to install an update verison, but it will not intall, just freezes, so I have no idea.

I wound up running the installer on a different PC that was still running XP 32-bit, then copying all the files back over to my main computer (Win7 64-bit). If I'd known this was going to be a problem I'd have just saved the files along with everything else when I was upgrading to Win7 last summer heh.

Anyway, the point is, if you can get the installer to run somehow, the Platform SDK folder it installs still works fine when compiling the DLL in a 64-bit environment. The folder is 703MB though so I'm not going to try hosting it, sorry.

you were able to to get visual studio to compile the cvgamecoredll with windows 7 impressive i spent over 25 hours fighting the beast following every tutorial i could find and had zero luck. went back to win xp happen find a visual studio 2003 in my discard junk discs. works perfectly compile every time and i have begun modding :)
