Intellectual Problem I have with Democracy -vs- Republic

That is... Intellectually...

Yes, and according to Plato a Democracy is truly the last rung above anarchy. Of course his ideal was the 'Philosopher King', which could be seen as being anything from a despotism to a dictatorship to a hippy dippy Valentine Michael Smith polis writ large.
For the record, I agree with you both - heh.

Frosti I must say that no native American group or any group of people prior to the industrial revolution could ever be considered communist for the simple reason that according to the creator of the communist ideal a place must 1st be industrialized before it can ever be communist. They may have had a system that involved no money and every one was feed (i do not know much about it) but when speaking of an ideology the creators thoughts are what truly matter. This is the reason there is such a problem with Republics and Democracies they have no known father. Granted many great works have been written about them but they still lack the same kind of it must be this way thinking implied with communism. And as far as the game goes just change the names of/ or make up new governments (that's what the editor is there for after all)

I expect the people driving the tanks were fairly cheerful. I would have been (and probably would have squashed the guy) :)

OK, I just thought I would point out why the argument on Republics and Democracys will never end, and you happened to make it easy on me by briging a "modern" government into it.
