I like this timing:

It's a huge map, and I guess the difficulty level is also high, both of which advance the tech rate.

ı downloaded the recent GOTM and ı was like 20 turns to discovering Republic -you know to increase available money for Science- when AI countries started on Smith's ...

Just outside of Elephantine, I counted at least 6 transports that must have come from the large island far to the east. Impressive logistics by the Dutch!

This foray will postpone my offensive elsewhere by at least one turn.

That has to be the largest invasion force I've ever seen an AI send by sea. Usually their transports contain something like 2 Riflemen, a Tank, and some AA unit, if that. I've seen them send things as weak as 1 Warrior in the Mid-IA at me.

Cavalry? 90 BC? Modded perhaps...?

Edit: or are you just beast like that?

It's a Sid, un-modded game on a Huge Archipelago map playing for a histographic victory. The timing of the leader for such a map, from my experience with these games, comes as happily rather early. Map size might only indirectly affect tech pace, if more trading occurs earlier, and if AIs can more easily form sizable empires. Techs do cost more, so I doubt there exists all that much of a correlation even.

so this is a funny location for the new capital of the Spanish... since it is from the current GOTM, i had to hide most of the map. anyway, you can see that the Spanish refounded their cap with a settler-on-boat after i had taken all their towns with distance 2 to two foreign towns. it won´t last long, as i had the money to buy the strongest army on the planet in against them ... muahahhahahaha

may ı be allowed to be jealous ? Considering ı have also tried the same saves ?

i for myself always prefer when others feel jealousy or envy towards me, over, like, compassion. :D

ahh , this is a designer map meant for competitions right ? ı have the save ; played it competition type and quickly got wasted , repeated in my usual save-ten-times-a-turn style and it becomes quite enjoyable if you have the patience for ship chains to invade other people . Though in the end ı failed once again in forgetting for a cultural win you need a 20K city and 100K overall . My top city has 11000 + , increases at 40 per turn and Incas have more tanks than ı have Samurais and so on . Will turn to it to finish the war someday .

That wasn't a designed map, was just a generated map. I did post the save for it though.

well , the random map generator does have some surprises . Playing the straight game a few times in the last months ı was regularly ending up with "built-in" disadvantages ; ı had never seen Spearmen making armies before .

a true naval blockade ...

such things were not happening as well , even if this is a mod .

King Abraham needed quick extra 75g. Fortunately there were some barbs over by a Greek colony who looked like suckers for the old AmWay sales pitch.

Good one :goodjob:

I don't think I've ever seen 3 barb camps spawn that close to each other before.

First in a long series of posts entitled "Why I hate Hiawatha"

No, really, he just spammed the dickens out of me here. This was in the 1200s, by the way. Everyone else was still clunking around in medieval armor, but the Iroquois were already rocking cavalry and sporting factories in their cities. I don't really hate hate the Iroquois, but their AI sure hates me.
