Interesting Screenshots

I just wanted to show that there were more units there than I have ever seen before in a chieftan game. The very next turn, 10 more swordsmen moved into that stack. :p

Look at this: What are the odds that Pompei is about to happen?

Only two volcanoes next to it, it's not as bad as you think.

But yeah, that city is doomed.

I've never seen AIs use barricades like that.

Northern Wolf is right, it is a pretty common occurence and in fact the only way I have seen them use barricades effectively (being by nature rather defensive they could put these things to good use)

In my game Hammurabi and Theodora had been fighting for a long time. I believe they were at peace with each other by the time I came sailing past with a caravel, but I was amused when I saw the double lock that Theodora had put on the door:

Although it's on flat terrain, I think this is a decent use of barricades by the AI, as it's on a bottleneck.

That's not a double blockade, since only one of them prevents access to Theo's territory. By fog-gazing you can see that the southernmost square of those two blocked ones has a plains square at the east (SE from the northern spear), so the southern spear is the only one that actually blocks access. The northern one doesn't block anything except for the coast. :)

(it also takes an equal amount of turns to go from Smyrna to Theo's territory through the tile guarded by the northern spear as it does by going east of it... so the only smart decision in that case is to have a Maginot-like approach: go around it!)

Are you sure Mirc? It looks to me like that could be just a beachhead not unlike the one W of the Northeast barricade...

I've seen the whole map, and there's water on both sides of both spears, so there's no plains tile in the fog.
And I knew the AI could do this, at least I had read about it, but I hadn't seen it myself, and I thought it was an interesting sight.

Although, if you want something more rare, I just saw two Portuguese curraghs passing, and I've read on the forum that the AI doesn't build curraghs, so there you go. Well, Vmxa says he's seen them in his Sid games, but this was only Demigod.

That white ting on both side of the front spear is indicitive of water, so I would thing no land is there.

Curraghs are a seldom seen sight from the AI. I think it is an artifact from C3. They had no boats till galleys, so I suspect it is not in the routines to build before then. Not sure what triggers the few you do run into.

Great timing here:

(Though I didn't use him for ToE. I saved him for Hoover. This is also the 3rd SGL I've had in the game, guess my luck is in!)

They might've been barb-hunting. I've seen the AI go crazy like that when barb huts pop up out in the wilderness. Usually the AI has just cleared one out and it respawns in nearly the same spot... lots of units build up after time if the AI keeps sending them.

Its especially unnerving when the AI feels the urge to march all those guys across your territory should a barb hut pops up in some isolated part of the continent

From the same game as above - note the relative sizes of France and Germany, and Germany's position in relation to everyone else:

Now what does my military adviser say about them?

These boys have been busy during their isolation!

It's probably because they've upgraded the 50+ Spears they built due to boredom, to Rifles. And Archers to Guerillas. (They got Nationalism as their free tech when I gifted them from the Ancient Age all the way to the Industrial Age. Pretty sure they have Rep Parts now too.)

Doesn't look like any mod or scenario to me. It looks like they played on well beyond whatever winning condition was reached, but it looks au naturel otherwise.

The AI's city names aren't on their lists. :p

I loaded up a 1.07f version of civ not to long ago and played through to modern then used the multi cheat to look around. Seems that McDonald's invaded the American culture by this time.
