Interesting Screenshots

To add a civilization you have to replace one. One Barbarian and 31 playable civilizations is the maximum you can have. Remember, computers have developed a lot since the game was released 10 years ago. The coding is going to reflect that. The fact that the game is still going strong 10 years later is a very strong testament to a very sound basic design.

How appropriate....

Wouldn't that be Denmark?

Right, but the most of the Netherlands sit at or just below sea level, and reclaimed land has been the Dutch's specialty (look at the famous Polders). I thought it was interesting that the Dutch got to start on a peninsula with an excess of water on a Pangaea map. It's not an inside joke, I thought it was funny.

Yeah, I once saw England starting in the middle of a big swamp. And since England is an island... man I wish I could post a screenshot, that was so good.

i got it and thought it was funny too. Especially since some whack job *******s are demanding that they destroy that land they have 'found'.

I find it interesting if only because - wow, what a horrible starting position! Is that tundra to the north? They must have really [pissed] the RNG gods.

And when they finally got on a galley and founded a few new towns . . . there were wide open expanses of . . . err. . . mountains! :p

Not entirely true. I believe there are also a few hills in the area, and that tundra in the north. ;)

Time for a new picture, check out Ugh-face's comment:

Why do you ask, dear Genghis?

EASTER EGG! The developers no doubt had fun with the diplomacy.txt.

I found the civ one txt file and translated the entire dialoge into rediclous dutch brable.
Barely translating what the guys where saying.

America heads an international coalition to depose an aggressive dictator. Having completed the job, it now remains to see how the former enemy's territory is divided up.

The shot shows troops from 5 different nations (America, Celts, Carthage, China, Korea) all of whom are in possession of at least one former Aztec city. Only two AIs are missing: the extinct Inca, who formerly occupied the large island in the north-east of the map, and Arabia, who were invited to the party but never arrived and backed out early.

My biggest gripe: Carthage swiped both cities with Rubber, one from right under my nose!!

[Edit] Just to the east of Tlatelalco, where you see the pollution, is a volcano that also joined in the fun and wiped out an Aztec city :D :rotfl:

Spoiler Coalition Victory! :

Well, there's an easy solution to that- just come up with questionable evidence that Carthage is building Weapons of Mass Destruction, and you can invade them and get the rubber. ;)
