Interesting Screenshots

I find that Ironclads has many uses, including upgrading to Battleship, but then I love ships and maps with lots of water,

Ok, you are using a mod. I so seldom have Ironclads, but the ability to upgrade makes them useful in some circumstances. Namely, if I can steal the tech and I am not too far from getting destroyers. Rare stuff to be sure

I have found this two gems on my hard drives.

This seems to be fitting name for a stronghold city. I think I was at war with the Ottomans at that point.

And this is definitiv the fitting scienes leader for the Theory of Gravity!

Both are older screenshots, since I am unable to play anymore. :(

Sorry to hear that. Possibly running at a low res will do the trick, as that will make things larger. 1440, 1280 or 1024.

Another solution could be to play with a lense mouse, but we had that conservation a longer time ago. Kirejara, I wish you all the best.

Here are screenshots about a situation that happened some time ago:

The original screenshots and the story about it can be found in the RARR thread in this and the following posts:

Edit: About this situation another screenshot in this thread was posted some time ago:

There can only be one!

When you can't help but get the feeling that the game is just taking the piss sometimes!

I guess I'm supposed to just quit at this point.

Nah, let's just see how this one goes for a bit. If I'm alone on a distant island then maybe it's just a slow-start handicap...

Oh jeez:

Yup, this is, so far, easily the worst start I have ever encountered.

Hey, at least I had a fish square.

But, nope, I am not alone. Turned out the AI has a massive area of rivered grassland. Alas, I don't have any fresh water even remotely close:

Well this just takes the cake:

I guess the more masochistic player might enjoy playing this one, but, for me, naaaah. It was fun being trolled for a bit, but I'm not THAT into this game :D

If I had played that map, I probably would have made The Hague have the most population. Then I would disband Rotterdam, and I think that would make the Hague the new capital.

All those plains though really could use some water. Grassland I always like better.

I think it's not quite as bad a start as seeing what Suede had playing an arid, cold map (I always play warm, wet maps). Though, his start was bad for almost everyone. You probably had by far the worst starting position.

Also, last night I looked over curtastic's India jungle challenge start as played by Lanzelot. His strategy was to get iron, invade some better land, and then put his new capital there. Though, that's not exactly conducive to a 20k game possibly, unless that's a 20k game where you kill off/weaken the AIs to prevent a spaceship launch loss. 100k also seems even more awkward than normal (if you play that I suggest taking out all religious and scientific opponents, probably also agricultural ones). A spaceship or diplomatic victory probably could work without decimating all of the AIs (though some of a few AI probably has got to/profitably could go).

Well, you got one tile that was not mountain, meaning you were able to found your capital, so what are you complaining about... :D

But seriously: this is start is definitely worse than the "Gandhi on the Rocks" game, as there I had a couple of jungle tiles, which could eventually be improved to support 4 decently productive towns. Nothing of that kind can be done with this purely mountain start.

I think, if would have to play this start, I would not found in place, but walk the settler over the mountains for 10 turns or so and hope to discover better land.
What's the difficulty level?

ı have a screenshot of an Al that was stuck on a plain or whatever , possibly one single tile to found the capital . And surrounded by lakes and mountains , so that it couldn't move any settlers it had , because they wouldn't be able to move over mountains in that scenario . Like 3 cities already in the example above .

It's only Monarch, so grinding it out is likely quite possible for a very experienced grinder/exploiter. However, the save file no longer exists as I started another game as soon as I closed this one down.

The very next game was much more my kinda bag: (see attached 4000BC save)

Though I can't give any spoilers at all. I'd be interested in seeing your blind first attempt just to see what year you get out of the Ancient Age on a map like this (no cheating and changing the parameters, lol), as that's the area where I tend to fall short I reckon.

I downloaded it. But, as soon I did so, I thought, wait, I don't know the settings. I don't know if it's a pangea or continents or archipelago. Buttercup might, and that might give him an advantageous position.
