Interesting Screenshots

So, I decided to give Sid a futile try.

Map settings: 80% Tiny Archipelago, to give myself room, of course.

Opponents: 2 (Zulu, Mongols).

The result, early on:

Curiously, I'm wondering if this may work to my advantage. If I can get enough Dromons going...

Edit to add: Nope.

I take it from your edit that they destroyed you before you got a settler or two off the island?

ha... just guessing from the rediculous stack of impi up by Bapedi, it didn't go well.

But that would've been a decent setup for a rediculously early conquest, if you had a couple of bonus resources. As it were, though... yeah, kinda rough.

Nah--in fact, the Zulu and Mongols engaged in a fun little war in which they actually razed each other's second city. But the Mongols beat me to Mapmaking, and it wasn't going to be all that much fun after that.

You're welcome to try an early conquest on Sid capnvonbaron. And you're welcome to fail also.

I like how Hittites was an extremely thin line for over 800 years. . . (He must of had one city left )

I like to do that to my enemies. They were my first prey, so they never got powerful. The Vikings had enough power that they never thinned out too much. But look at the Byzantines now. They were one of my latest prey (I just wiped out the Mongols full force as quick as possible because they bothered me)

PS-The Zulu just dropped about 5 spots as I just took half their cities, their 3 sources of saltpeter, and destroyed their entire army

well, the only reason I say that is because maybe, on the off chance that you can create a half-dozen units or so while the two are fighting, and assuming they burn eachother's second city, send the remaining troops toward the others' capital, and kill off a bunch of each others' units in the process, you could maybe sneak your units in and conquer one's capital in the next turn, whereupon all of that civ's units disappear and you won't suffer the counterattack.

At that point, turn the surviving force toward the other's capital (assuming THEIR second city burned) along with reinforcements, and invade -- hopefully succeeding in destroying the city on the next turn. Admittedly though, I don't know if the enemy has a habit of keeping only the required two or three MPs on Sid, or if they'd have a dozen units standing there to greet you.

Only a thought. A lot of things would have to go right. Can't hurt to try it :dunno:

Sorry, but that's flawed. The AIs get TWO extra settlers on Sid. So, they'll each have to burn each others second and third city. On top of this, the have a build rate of .4... meaning they need 5 food to grow from size 1 to size 2 (up to size 7) and 12 shields to produce a settler. So, even if they spit out a nice 24 shield temple and maybe a 16 shield rax first, they might still have another city or three out by this time. They also have a slew of starting units and need only 4 shields for a warrior and 8 for an archer or spearman. Your thought comes as mildly interesting... mainly because... even though it's hard to calculate... I'd expect it less probable than the SGL fortune/great start of archphoneix's Cheiftain 20k HoF game or any other HoF game for that matter. As a sophism that's nice though.

Honestly, I dare you to try and let us all watch you try this, because it "can't hurt". We'll have a good time watching you crash and burn. And if I'm wrong, you'll succeed rather gloriously against probably the expectations of just about everyone around here.

No need to be demeaning, dude. It was just a passing thought

And, well, I don't have C3C so A) I'm not entirely familiar with the finer points of Sid level and B) no I won't be trying it anytime soon.

@Taras: Love the 3333 points!

Also, are the Byzantines Dead or Alive?

I have seen some messy civs before but this is as bad as I have seen an AI that hasn't been nuked. The Japanese are causing quite a bit of global warming but I suppose its not there fault they cannot make peace(they have been at war with Russia for at least 80 turns).

I wouldn't be able to play it if you did send it to me, as I still have no idea how to make my C3C accept the 1.22 patch...

@Kumquat: Quick, call in the EPA!

Choxorn,

I found out how to get my computer the run the patch. Here are the steps:

1. Download "No Raze" patch
2. Download 1.22 Patch
3. Depending on your computer either run the first No Raze.exe or the second

YOUR DONE!!! This should work, as it did for me. The only set back is that you can't raze cities and the AI can't either, but at least the text isn't messed up for all those great mods out there that require 1.22!

Sincerely,
MM

This isn't exactly the norm, but I started laughing when I saw this as I was looking at the interesting screenshot thread

The other two windows you have open? ;)
